A few weeks ago, I bought Amber Benson's movie Chance from her website. A couple days later, for reasons that have to do with circumnavigating copyright law or some such, a Chance movie poster arrived at my door. I stuck the poster tube in the back of my closet with all the other things that serve absolutely no purpose other than lurking in the back of my closet daring me to try and throw them out.

I then forgot all about Chance until I got home from work today and the DVD was waiting for me. It came in a plain brown mailer, which was hand addressed. For some reason, I got a huge kick out of that. It's not often you get anything hand addressed in the mail, and it added a nice personal touch.

The movie itself was fun, in a student-filmy way. It suffers from some akward interludes of a guy singing w/ an acoustic guitar (he's not awful, but he doesn't bridge the scenes together like I think his appearances were supposed to) but overall, I got a kick out of it. Amber and James were very good, and it was fun to see Andy "Lorne" Halet without his karoke demon makeup on. The best part about watching Chance: you can see the seeds of the director Amber may some day become. That is exciting.

If you can spare the forty dollars, it's well worth the purchase. I know it's a lot more than most DVDs/videos cost, but think of it as your contribution to the arts. You're not buying a movie, you're financing an independant filmmaker.

Man, I have been trying to find that! I wanted to rent it SO bad but nothing...I can't afford it. Not to buy it anyway. I wanna see it...Maybe I'll just come and steal it from you!!! 😛 I'm jealous...

Lilah - I don't think it's ever going to be available "off the shelf" from stores either in the US or the UK (it's a true independant movie - never been picked up by a distributor), but you can buy Chance on PAL VHS tape or Region 2 DVD from the Chance movie website. Other than that, I think your only chance of seeing it is if Amber screens it at one of her appearances (I know she showed it a few months ago at a Buffy convention in the UK)

OMG, I so want to see it! 3 stars from Buffy/Angel 🙁 It would be so class.

LazyDolphin, I've been checking out Amber's official site lately so I can get the print out order form for her movie and such... I convinced my sister to buy it for me for Christmas this year with another friend or two chipping in.

Anywho... you know the poster you pretty much left in the back of your closet? Doesn't it have Amber Benson's autograph on it? That's part of the deal on Amber's site. I was just wondering because you didn't mention it, and I hope you noticed that you got her autograph.🙂

Look at it tonight, and let us all know. When I get my poster and picture... I'm framing both right away and hanging 'em up. Can't wait. My sister was asking me, 'what if you don't like the movie?' But I remembered reading your thread, and told her, 'I really doubt I'll dislike it.'

Hey Oz - I opened up the tube! I've only had it for like a month...man, I am a lazy dolphin!

You're right - check it out. Her name is apparently "A___" but she definitely signed it!

Awesome LD! Makes me want to get mine even more. Gonna be the best Christmas yet. 🙂

Saw the movie, it was okay. I appreciated your review LD, never saw that before. I didn't dig that guitar dude, but I like the bizarre neighbor guy. I think the movie is worth watching for several reasons, but he is the main one!

Thanks LD! 🙂

Someone should have droped a freggin safe on the guitarist's head! I didn't mind his music but having to sit and watch HIM...

I LOVED the movie! I laughed my @ss off! I will never look at Spike, Tara or Lorne the same again...but really, crap, I just had to delete everything I wrote because, well, major spoilers...for those of you that have seen it, My fav parts involved Simon when Chance's mom was there and Simon's "happy dance" in the bedroom...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I'm gonna have to watch that again...and again...maybe I'll make a screen saver...

I'd love to pay up forty dollars (or euro's) for this tape, but unfortunatly I don't think they'll deliver all the way up her!

Okay, I spent ten seconds attempting to overcome the urge to make this joke, and in the end I failed miserably. Sorry, Allycat.

unfortunatly I don't think they'll deliver all the way up her!

Up her what?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA......ha. *cough* ahem.

Sorry. Have I told you about that big tatoo on my forehead that says "Poor Impulse Control"?

Chance (a movie) 2002

I just found this, and since its not really 'news' I decided to put this thread here. I figure you'll all be intrested in it.

I stumbled across this movie while looking for pictures for My Site. I found out this movie has 4 people involved with Buffy/ANgel in it!!!

Amber Benson (Tara) plays 'Chance' in the movie. Tara directed and produced the movie as well.
James Marsters (Spike) stars as 'Simon'.
Andy Hallet (Lorne) plays the co-star 'Jack'.
David Fury (Buffy writer, producer, director) as a 'the pizza guy'.

Intresting eh??? Did any of you know that Amber Benson was in 'Can't Hardly Wait' with Seth Green as well??

anyway......

(got this from the site I found it)

Chance Is a black comedy about how hard it is to find "the one". We're all out there looking for true love-a very elusive thing indeed, and Chance is no exception. She's desperately on the prowl for a man, but since she's more mouse than cat, she get's herself into scrape after scrape in her screwball pursuit of love. Surrounded by a bevy of adoring but completely wrong for her men (and one dead girl from Manchester), Chance has to pick her way through her messy life in order to figure out which guy is "It".

Zander, I loved how you slipped in your website with a link in your post 😉 CLASSY! lol!
I didnt know that James and Andy had like, main roles until a couple of months ago, I thought they were just like, I dunno, the delivery guy, or the paper boys...uh...men...never mind!
