I just finished Dollhouse, and I think it was fantastic. There were so many fascinating ideas. It's probably my second favorite Whedon show, and definitely the one I want more of. THERE'S SO MUCH MORE THAT NEEDS TO BE EXPLORED. Hell, I want a whole season in The Attic!! I would love five seasons of Dollhouse. There are so many directions that could have been taken: more focus on the clients, and why they hire Dolls, why they need intimacy this way, how they feel knowing this person isn't real, more character back stories, more on how they got to the apocalypse, more on the idea that it's possible to steal bodies and essentially live forever, more focus on The Attic. Ugh, I just need more.

I love all of the characters, I love all the plot twists, I love the darkness, I love everything!

I also want to rant about how I think Eliza did a really great job in it. I don't think she was weak or bad in ANY way, and it actually makes me upset when I see how many people feel differently. I think she was great at all her individual characters, Caroline, wiped Echo, all of them at once, and confused Echo who's gaining consciousness and memories. It makes it hard for me to join in and discuss Dollhouse with the (relatively small) fandom because of all the negativity towards her and her character (Echo was probably my favorite character). I think she was far from the weakest cast member, and she definitely had the hardest job. I kind of feel like I've stepped into an alternate reality whenever I read an episode review, or something similar. I'm just very confused.

I'm also confused as to why so many feel that this show is inferior to his others. Whatever. I still love Eliza and the show and I won't let the negativity get me down!

Everyone should give Dollhouse a shot!

Omg, yes to all of the above! I saw it last year first time, have already watched it through 3 times! :D
I'm with ya on Eliza! I think she did great, it was a complex character. I really loved Victor too ( duno the actors name), he is amazing.

So much to be explored, hoping it'll get fleshed out in Joss's twilight years or something 😛

Ditto mate!

Pretty much agree with everything you said. Actually I don't have much to say cause you said it all 😛

The only thing I wish for would be more seasons so they can do a proper buildup to some of the storylines (like the Boyd reveal was rushed, and made little sense).

There should have been at least 5 season. One remains the same (maybe less filler imposed by the Network). Two should have been the first half of the season, plus the road for Echo to find her own consciousness (which seemed to be cut due to time constraint), leading to the point where she comes back to the house. Three would be the second half of season 2 that we got, but with more details and a better lead up to the Boyd reveal. Four could be the lead up to the apocalypse, have Boyd actually be the bad guy for more than 2 seconds. Season 5 would be the apocalypse, they had enough material to do a whole season on it. I do love the format though and how the season finales show glimpsed in the future. I would have loved to see more of the characters introduced in Epitaph 1.

I like those ideas!

Agree with everything. As one reviewer said, "Dollhouse will end with almost limitless untapped narrative potential." So true.

I'm glad that you loved it so much. It's a great show, that doesn't get enough love and recognition. It had 26 episodes and yet no one remembers it but the fans love Firefly which only had 14 eps + a movie. People forget that it is a Joss show.

I agree about Eliza. I don't think she's as bad as some people say, and she did have the hardest job. But it's just that the cast was so great that she doesn't get to really stand out.

I'm also glad you loved it so much! Dollhouse is not without its faults but it manages to come up with some really nice ideas and those who gave it the chance ended up pretty passionate about it. See @Blaze. 😀

Never enough Dollhouse love around!

At the very end, she recommends watching Dollhouse as the pick of the week. I was like, 😀, yay some love for Dollhouse! And she says that Eliza was a great lead. So maybe more people will check it out now. I want to get the DVDs.

Haha, as someone who thinks Eliza is weak I barely dare to post in this thread.
Just gonna say that Enver Gjokaj - Victor - is amazing. I can't believe he's not a bigger name by now. Just a great actor.

@Mr. Pole well, that's a shame. I don't watch any of those shows so I can't say

Have you seen him on Extant? He wasnt that good. Dollhouse may have been an anomaly. I've not seen him in anything else as I dont watch the Cagney and Lacey remake or Agents of SHITE.

Wasn't he in Agent Carter, and everyone was good in that

Love him in agent Carter too!
I have too admit i think Eliza was good. I think everyone was good, (execpt for Miracle Im not trying to be mean but too me all her lines came off as really whiny to me) But i got discouraged after the season one finale because I felt the finale was so good I didn't see how they could wrap it up more then they did I kinda wished they saved epitaph 1 and 2 as a special and aired then both on the same night. but maybe i have too re-watch the entire thing.

I've seen Enver Gjokaj in some stuff since Dollhouse, and I still like him. He doesn't get much to do in Agent Carter, but I thought he was still good. Now that it's over maybe he will get some more work.

He was good in Agent Carter. Sorry that show has been cancelled
Agents of SHITE, Agent Carter... it's all the same innit. No, I guess one got canceled and the other is still on.

@Taake I thought you said you watched Rizzoli & Isles

Not the same at all. One I liked, one I didn't. And Carter is set in the 40's, which appeals to me.

I love Rizzoli & Isles, but I never watched Cagney and Lacey so that reference was lost on me till now, sorry. He must be in a more recent season. I have only seen season 1-4.

He was in season 5
Tbh I thought Enver was really good (especially as Topher and Mr. Dominic) but I wasn't like crying myself to sleep over his performance. I thought Eliza was almost equally as good as the old dead lady and the mother 😵 to each their own I guess? And I certainly thought her roles were more varied and impressive than Dichen's. And I've heard people say she was the wrong choice for the character which I think is ridiculous because if anyone would have the type of strong persona that would withstand repeated wipings it would be Eliza, no? If she does have that certain thing which makes her always seem the same (which I don't agree with anyway) than isn't that the point of the whole show???

I was really surprised by Dichen, sometimes I love her, other times I can't see past bitchface from neighbours...

I'm anomaly in loving Tahmoh too, although I prefer him in almost every other show.

Yes, to each his own. I wasn't really crying myself to sleep over his performance either... not heard that expression before.

Well for me, it's her inability to emote as an actor. I think she does fine, but the dolls are practically indistinguishable from each other. They're either pouty and baby-talky, or they're scowly and Faithy. Those are her go-to moves. I'm never convinced each doll is a different person because it's always just Eliza. I tend to prefer actors who make me forget their real life person when they're acting, who can convince me that they are the role they're playing. Eliza just isn't there yet, for me, in any of her performances.

But it's great that you enjoy her performance and that you liked the show. It's a good show.
