I was reading the thread asking the question who's older - Kakistos, or The Master? It got me to thinking. Who's tougher?

The Master is tricky. He can do that hypno-choke thing, and he's strong enough to throw the more or less newly formed Angelus across a room, but Kakistos is pure, raw, power. It was pretty much by accident 2 slayers were able to defeat him. There happened to be a broken beam lying around.

As you point out, Kokistos is sheer raw animal power, and the advantage would be all his in a close in head to head fight. If he ever managed to corner the Master, it would be all over.

The Master, however, is more of a thinking monster, powerful, certainly, but knowing that strength can be overcome by proper strategy. Given room to move around, to slash and dodge, the advantage would be his.

It all comes down to the argument about cave men and astronauts...

I guess I'll go with the astronauts then... if the Master is the astronaut, lol. Brains over Braun! Plus the Master just seemed tougher to kill to me then Kakistos.

lol, didn't Fred prove the cavemen win?

ok, seriously, i'm not sure who's actually tougher. when it comes to smarts, The Master wins, hands down, no contest. but if we're talking sheer brut force, then my money's on Kakistos.
it all depends on the cuircumstaces, people!

I went with the Master, purely because I tend to think he could outsmart Kakistos fairly easily and probably get himself the advantage in a fight but like Lyri says, it depends on the circumstances of the fight.

One on one, brute force match? Probably goes to Kakistos.

the master struck me as being smarter than Kakistos. plus, he seems to have some knowledge about the occult, so that gives him an advantage.

Meh.

If Faith couldn't off him as quick as I'd like with that support beam lying around (I hate seeing my girl suffer), Kakistos is probably pretty tough. But if Buffy gets killed and has to shove him off a high school roof and on to an uncanilly placed broken library table, then well, he's tougher.

Master wins.
