Karma/Reputation has been disabled for the present time. I think we all need a break from it - we're seeing too must nastiness in there, and the mods have enough to do without having to check over every single reputation comment.

The purpose of it is not to have a way to get mean digs in on people, and I think maybe we need a reminder of that.

Either of these sound like better solutions. It doesn't seem like many people were abusing the rep feature. Of course the mods would know better than me though!

Yeah....I like this idea. I think I've only given someone negative karma once...well, twice, but the second time was an accident haha which is another reason why I wouldn't mind having it gone (negative karma...I do not want karma/reps gone all together). I always feel like I'm going to accidentally give someone bad karma (badum...tis) again and I actually refresh the page to make sure that I don't. I need help.

I love Karma and I would be very dissapointed when we would lose it but I think it's a good idea to spent 3 days or something like this without it. Just to see that they are a very important part of BB. I wished there could be more than these 8 or 9 boxes. May we could get on with blue coloured boxes when the green ones are full or something like this.

I can only speak for myself but postive reps with negative content has happened more than once. People can still be rude.

I'll miss the reps while they're gone but they're just fun. Not a big punishment if you ask me. It's for the good of the members. Is it that bad to be without karma if it helps a few, or more, members? As Darla said, the staff don't have time to read every comment that are made. I doubt everyone reports it when they think people are out of line in their reps.

While where is a limited number of boxes you still reach new levels. When/if they come back just move the mouse over the boxes and you'll see what you are/have.

Yeah, you're right. I get what this is about now. Jeez I'm slow. It's just about the fact that people can get a quick dig in (or an unnecessary/stupid comment) at the end of an argument...so to speak. I think the person (or persons) who abused it, needs a break. A time out. A spanking.

I'll stop. 😉

I'm really sure that this isn't permanent though, because Darla said we need a break and as I said in another thread, karma keeps things less cluttered because we can make a quick comment, as opposed to creating tons of "thank you (20 charac)" posts haha.

The problem with who'll go through all reps to find the bad ones still remain though.

Yes, because they need to be posted. The karma function is great but it can easily be lived without. It just take some time to adjust when you're used to it.
 
I'm finding the ongoing discussion of it totally pointl...annoying.

We wouldn't take it away for no reason, people weren't using it correctly so it was removed to remind people what its there for.

Now I'll remind you again; keeping on discussing how annoying or pointless you think this break is isn't going to bring the feature back any quicker. My advice would be to try to learn something from the break and quit bitching about it.

please, I'm begging you, don't start creating posts less than 20 characters and then adding random msgtooshort or 20character lines to bump it up. Just take five minutes to think of another line to add 😀
