Is it true, if anyone actually knows, that originally the role of "Justine" was going to be played by Kate Lockley? I actually loved the "Justine" character and I think no one could have conveyed the damaged soul type of character better than that great actress that played Justine. Still, I am intrigued by the concept of a Kate Lockley three season arc leading her to cutting Wesley's throat and kidnapping Angels son. Basically I think Kate couldn't have done a better job than Justine, still for the continuity of the "kate" character it would have been interesting to see her turn on Angel and all of Elizabeth Rohms scenes with Alexis Denisof, they were only in a few episodes together so I wonder what their chemistry would have been like. It is fun to imagine 😛. Anyways, I'm curious to know what you guys think of all of this. Also, what do you think would have turned Kate against Angel after the beautiful Epiphany scene., what could have sent her into that emotional place again.

I don't know if EVERYTHING that happened to Justine would have happened if it had been Kate, but I think the whole idea of Justine fighting vampires under the radar was supposed to be Kate. I have no proof, but I do remember reading that they wanted Kate to come back in a darker role, since the original concept of the character was a lot darker than what we eventually got.

So, I think Kate putting her life on the line and fighting vampires was probably the only part that was kept for Justine. The dead twin, falling in with Holtz, being kept in Wesley's closet might have all just been added when they realized it wasn't going to happen, as far as I can imagine. I don't think I could have seen Kate go THAT dark.

I never liked the character of Justine. She was maybe the most uninteresting character in Angel Season 3 (maybe even duller than Holtz). I did like Kate, though. Seeing Agent Lockley as a villain would have been much more interesting.

We actually did get a demon fighting Kate in the IDW "Angel" comics, so you're probably at least partially right about Kate, and the dead twin might have very well been just an alternative for Kate doing the same thing for her dead father. I can't see Kate teaming with Holtz, though, even on the "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," kind of logic. Kidnapping Connor and trying to kill Wes like that just isn't her style.

Kate did the same thing by blaming Angel for her own father's death.
When you think about it most everyone on the show, both the shows actually, always blamed someone else. When you stop and look at it, there is/was more blaming going on than you realize.

Yes, much blame-shifting and hypocriticism to be found
I actually think I prefer Justine, just because she was non-descript. There was a history there wth Kate, annoying as she was, I don't think I would buy her turning evil just like that. She never seemed the sort, although she did blame Angel for the death of her father (which is stupid!), I don't think she would steal his infant son and attempt to kill Wesley over it. At least Justine was unhinged from the start.....
