Even though she had moments where I truly wanted to reach through the screen and rip her to shreds, I felt she was one of the most real, layered and interesting characters on the show, and was sad they let her go so early in the show's run...goddamn that Law & Order...

The sexual tension with Angel was amazing...how she hated him yet was obviously so attracted to him at the same time, and seemed to hate him for the mere fact his being a vampire made him completely unattainable. When she discovered what he was, I think that was the first time we really got a good, complex view at a real human being's reaction to discovering an acquaintance/potential love interest is a vampire. The mixture of confusion, anger and hurt was so brilliant and Elisabeth Rohm rocked it.

It's a shame the relationship couldn't have been explored further in the later seasons. Kate would have made for a great love interest...but not greater than Cordelia, of course. 😉

Kate is one of my favourite characters and I am sad that Joss and Co didn't make her a full timer, or that Elizabeth didn't want it.

I agree completely with you though Poofy on hers being the most human and complex reaction to date.

I would love to have seen her come back for 1 episode in season 5 as it would have been great to see what she made of Angel working for the enemy and also might have been interesting to have her make him confront his choices.

I think she would have been a better character to use than the Buffy exploration in Girl in Question.

I always thought and now wish that she could have played a bigger part. Who knows if we ever got a TV version of the 6th Season she may have returned but I did enjoy how they had her leave.

I really liked Kates character, i think she was interesting enough and had potential to play a much bigger part. Like the other characters though, she went to waste.

I loved the character. I thought she brought a bit of human reality to the show, with how she reacted to Angel being a vampire. She fit in perfectly to the noir setting of LA.

I really hated Kate she Bugged me alot and was glad to see her go. Not that it was bad acting I just hated the Character .
She was easy to dislike, yes. But I don't think any of us could really blame her for doing some of the things she ultimately ended up doing. She wasn't perfect, no...but she was a human being who reacted justifiably to the news a close "resource" and big crush was a blood-sucking demon...

I haevn't really been keeping up with the comics, but I hear she shows up in the Angel ones. Maybe they're have another shot?

I didn't hate Kate but looking back on AtS as a whole, if I had to pinpoint a part of the show that bored me, it would be her character. Its hard for me to say exactly why, its different for everyone what keeps them interested in TV shows and whatnot, I guess I just was never invested in her, nothing in her storylines got me invested. I never missed her when she was gone, she just plain bored me... kinda like Nina.

I dunno, I certainly won't be reading them...there hasn't been anything the comics have touched that they haven't destroyed...

I didn't hate Kate, but I didn't like her that much. I wasn't sad that they decided not to keep her around; I didn't see that Elisabeth had that much chemistry with DB.

I didn't really like Kate. it was so obvious that she was designed to be a 'buffy substitute' and that she was originally intended to be the 'love interest'. Unfortunately she and DB had the sexual chemistry of cold porridge.

Funnily enough, she is more likeable in the comic - she appears in a short story with Connor and she was very cool.

I completely agree! When they introduced her I was like "WTF? They're trying to replace Buffy in his life ALREADY?" And LMAO@what you said about their chemistry... My husband said almost the same thing when he watched the season with me!

I just didn't care for her AT ALL. I guess her being a cop gave Angel a way to kind of get his foot in the door as far as the PI business, but I just didn't like Elisabeth Rohm in "Angel". I thought she was cold and I didn't see her as being the type of woman Angel would go for.

Me too! I am rewatching Angel right now and through S1 I skipped through almost all the eps featuring her. 😛

Almost all the good drama in S1 was because of her...hate her or not...skipping her eps? That's gotta detract a lot...
