I've just seen an episode of Angel on TV and it's the one where the museum gets robbed and Angel bites Kate. I watched it again when it was on the same channel and there was no mention of kate, I know Angel didn't kill her so did he make her or something?

Kate left LA in (I believe) Season 3, but she came back in the comics with longer hair, tighter pants, a bare midriff and two much bigger...handguns, as a freelance demon fighter. She's on Angel's new team.

Really? Why? I thought it was cool they'd cast a girl in the role as the tough cop. But I she did get really annoying at the end, but I liked her before that.

I guess Kate is alright, she's a pretty respectable woman. But, considering that she was often portrayed as Angel's antagonist after she found out about his fangy problem, and before that as somebody who kept getting in the way of our beloved Bangel/Cangel/Whatever the hay somebody else 'shipped, I'm not surprised that lots of people seemed to dislike her.
I dislike her on two levels: 1. She repeatedly got in Angel's way. 2. No lady gets in the way of my Cangel/Dangel/Spangel love then gets away with it. 😉
But as a person I think that she was perfectly nice, just in the wrong place at the wrong time for us viewers.

But see, I'm not a Cangel, never did buy it. And I don't think she got in the way of Dangel, that in and of itself was just never fated to have a happy ending. I would've liked to have seen Angel with Kate, and Cordy of course with Doyle. But does Joss ever listen to me?! :tongue3:
All good reasons lol but I agree the only reason i disliked her is because of her attitude. She has every reason to be mad whatever but after a while it got old. But her last scene was great so I guess all ends on a good note.

I'm a Kate fan, wish she was an official regular (honestly, don't see why she wasn't in season 1). She was such a roughed-up character who kicked butt. She was like a fully human, grown woman Buffy. Elisabeth Rohm was casted so well and had she not of gotten that Law and Order roll who knows what would've happened with her on the show? Sense & Sensitivity, when she's under the influence of that spell at AI, is a hilarious scene!

I don't like Kate. Which is a pity, because she could have been a likeable character very easily. I found it frustrating that she permanently seemed to have a teenage attitude problem.
Maybe if they had've kept her around for longer they could have made her more likable, or even more of a villain - more of a Lilah type than being just plain annoying!

That Kate wasn't a love interest is a good thing, because it was much more interesting that way. It would have been too typical - stereotypical even - to go down that very predictable road.
Kate also helped to establish that "ANGEL" was a very different series than "Buffy", given that she was a big-city cop unaccustomed to these disturbing supernatural elements. One of my favorite moments with her was near the end of "Sanctuary" where she arrested Angel and basically announced to everyone near that he was a vampire by threatening to throw him into a sunny jail cell, which took Buffy by surprise. Kate was more real-world, in that sense. You just wouldn't see that sort of thing on "Buffy" aside from Buffy and faith being pursued by police. Arresting a vampire just sounds ridiculous and that's what made it so interesting and made Angel's series so different. Small, fictional town where supernatural things are commonplace and the line that divided good and evil was easy to see. Real city of Los Angeles, a heightened version of it but still the real city, where people and demons co-exist but only a chosen few are aware of it...that really gave the shows a different feel and atmosphere and Kate was a big part of establishing that, as was Charles Gunn.

I think that Kate was originally put into the "Angel" story line to fulfill that all important element to every detective story, the P I's inside the Police Department contact and source of information. All of the great P Is had at least one. Mike Hammer, Philip Marlowe, Nick Carter, and all of the newer crop. Plus, there was that other cliche', the beautiful blond not-quite-love interest that's almost as common as the cop buddy. With Kate, they could have had both in one single package.

Yeah, that kinda bordered on GOT-fic, Angel tames and conquers this previously strident woman by biting her and she seems to actually enjoy it, undergoing 'the pleasure moment' (as did Buffy when he bit her), stroking the bitemarks affectionately and acquiescing to his will from then on, as if she always wanted it deep down (as maybe Lilah did too?). Goes some dark erotic places😱/😀 (can't really decide which)
I loved Kate personally, she was great, beautiful and yet not just another Angel groupie. Plenty of fanfic where she joins AI properly to replace another character (as happens in the comics). I don't think Joss wanted to get rid of Kate but Elizabeth got her gig on L&O and she could hardly turn that down! Reputedly there was supposed to be a scene during Couplet when Angel and Groo visit the magical brothel and find Kate working there as one of the whores. Much like the guy chained to the wall she declines to be 'rescued'. Frankly though I think that sounds like wishful thinking for some folks at the old Bronze forum. 😱

EXACTLY. All she ever did was whine and cop attitude. It got annoying REALLY fast.
