Kean and Lyri, Redux

Never thought I'd fall for an April fools joke, but like others I fell for the fake boards thing! I couldn't believe how bad that site was, but to be honest many real ones are quite similar.

Buffy Summers banning Kean and Lyri never fooled me for a second. I've never known her to ban anyone on all the boards or in all the years I've known her, and she's dealt with some pretty pissy people!

Of course I've gone missing long and often enough to miss some bannings, but Kean and Lyri's "crime" was never going to result in one.

We should all be given medals of honour the guys who raided that other cool board. Definitely fooled by that. The second though I took the major anti-fool approach as to not get caught, I'm sure the IRC peoples will tell you may crazy theories 😀

And then you walked right into Crazy Flakes' new game one. You did WELL this year!

She banned someone a few weeks ago who was obviously trying deliberately to get banned. I think that person is trying to win a bet that they can get banned from every Buffyverse forum on the Web.

It was kind of funny, actually.

Yes, it as ALL Faith's fault. I should have known something was up...she was WAY too excited about the idea the night the three of us came up with it, lol.

I still can't believe we actually fell for the 'Buffy's so upset she's crying' thing. And then Faith sold us out with the 'they really should have known better than this' thing. Seriously, you should have seen mine and Kean's YIM conversation, we were really bitching out Faith, 'cause we thought she was trying to pass the buck and blame the whole thing on us. And then we started to wonder if we were getting pranked back, which, as it turned out, yep, we were, lol.

Ok, then I might have actually keeled over. I was seriously having difficulty breathing when I thought you were really upset, B. I was like 'Oh, my God, what the hell have we done?!' Only, my language was more colourful, lol.

Sorry, I hate to laugh, but just imagining that now is funny AND so terrifying it's funny to think about....looking back on it, of course.
See what you *should* have done was a) not tell Faith and b) allow me to find out that it was you guys who set up the board. And make me think that you guys were starting your own. Because THEN I would have had a real reason to be mad at you. lol

They were both great actors. I didn't know B was in on it at the point she said she was crying, and Faith was giving me the whole "We'll tell her, but...not while she's so angry. I hate to see her so sad though!". And then Buffy turns around and tells us how great we are! Evil, EVIL knife-twister!

The moment Faith told me Buffy knew, well, that made my night. It was brilliant. I sat open-mouthed for a whole minute just realising what that meant.

Keeping track of who knew what I knew was wicked complicated though! (Although telling Lou barefaced lies as she scrambled to piece together what had happened was far too much fun!)

Lieing to Lou, HOW COULD YOU! Expect many konks in the IRC

Except Lou was IN the IRC when I told them, so I don't know how she didn't know lol

Yeah, THAT was MEAN! *KONK* Only my name was there, I was at Cub Scouts racing a tiny wooden car!
Dude, I totally fell for it. The first part about the site, I mean. But then after I thought about it for a while, I figured Buffy was pranking them for pranking her.

I'm so gullible. *sigh

I just have to say me immediate thoughts when I read this...

"ooh, Clever" : grinno :

And ONE DAY, I'm gonna get you back for that, Mister!

Poor little me. I was running SO late to Cub Scouts because of the stupid other site and the PM and trying to explain my suspicions about it, that I totally forgot to log out of the chat when I left.
I come back, be bopping in, so happy to see it hopping in there, and rattling on about the race and how Alex won and Lindsey's hopping on me saying "Watch what you say!" and "things are all bad" and I was like, "HUH? I can't tell them about Cub Scouts?"

So, I toddle off to read threads, only to find TONS of crap and people talking away in the chat and everyone mad and upset.....talk about MAJOR crash after such a high. And then there's Mr. Lindsey Poop-Head who not ONLY was lying to me, but I think INTENTIONALLY making so I couldn't catch up with anything by talking my ear off.

Which is FINE. Because he's gonna get his! I have a WHOLE year (or two) to work on my plan. And I get paid for my creativity skills. He'd better be quaking in his kilt!

*slaps head*

THAT was the original plan but it was just around all that Slay Alive business so we ran it past Faith, just incase you killed is.

This is actually far funnier in retospect.

I never fell for it. The only thing I didn't know was that Lyri and Kean didn't know about the ban being a sham. I thought Buffy and Lyri and Kean, all planned this, but tried to fool us into thinking the ban was real. I did not find it funny to be honest, and the level of evil in Buffy know's no end, in fact because it was April the 1st, was like a giveaway. *Yawns* I've read funnier on the SFX forum trust me.

Anyway, its all well and good you guys that read it after the event, but the fact is, there was quite a convincing air to the first part of the 'fool' when it was 'live'.

If I was reading this now, yes, I would think its all part of April Fools, but we were caught up in the moment so all you guys that feel 'superior' because you 'knew' straight away, though we'll never know, I believe you would have been caught up in it.

Heck, the only reason the follow up stuff became obvious at the time was because of the way it was handled and THEN took so long.

Yeah I figured that was not the best way to go. To be honest fooling the members was not part of it at the start. It was meant to be 'us' getting Buffy but when I decided to flip I thought a good way to get Lyri and Kean was to make it public and more convincing to them and anyone who bought it then good - anyone who didn't no biggie it was just a bit of fun.

Glad those who took part in the raid enjoyed themselves!

I have a theory that you were the brains to this. Very manipulative and I like it!

Oh and for the record. I was not convinced that the entire thing was a set up. And I came back to the boards on April 1st for a reason. And still... Not convinced. I had my suspicions, sure, but I was still a little weirded out by the entire thing.

So as much as I hated this joke... And think it is lame now... I was kinda got. So good. Especially good since I was expecting something to joke me.

What's to say that people that didn't fall for it feel superior? Some jokes/pranks you fall for and some you don't. And believe it or not, some of us that didn't fall for it were actually here right when it happened.

People who genuinely realised it straight away, they are fine, there will always be people that 'click' (however the only person I would say was Bluebird because she made a comment, anyone else, well we'll just have to take their word for it but to be honest, I won't believe them - but thats my prerogative, right) straight away.

Its the superior attitude of the 'Oh, yeah, I knew, was obvious' people that ALWAYS come after the event.

There were ALOT of people who got caught up in it, and rightly so, who will attest to how convincing it actually was.

Hey I was a 'clicker' too.....THIS time. Haha. But I agree on your general superior-latecomer theme here
