Keep Dollhouse Alive Video Project

Hey guys,

due to the low ratings again this season, I was thinking and came up with an idea.

How about we (as BB) make a video for youtube where members talk about what makes the show so cool and why people should be watching it. Then we could spread out the link to people (preferably Americans I think, cos they are the ones that can actually change the ratings) who might be interested in the show, or just post it on facebook.

We could come up with a 10 reasons list for why the show is cool and should be watched, and every reason could be presented by another Boards member who says a few words about it in front of a camera (although, if you're not comfortable with that, other ways of presentation are surely possible). At the end we could merge all the clips into one single video and upload it to youtube and/or other video portals.


So, what are everyone's thoughts on this? Anyone in/out?

Great idea 🙂 Maybe everyone that can just does their own and submits them here? People can email them to me if that's easiest, or if someone else wants to take care of the collecting and assembling, that's fine too 🙂

Just want to post the idea that came out of BBTV, and that is to have a bunch of people on camera just saying "Paul Ballard". So that's an easy thing for people to do 🙂 Though maybe it should be Tahmoh because if they haven't watched they won't know who he is 😀

We could also mention, you know, Joss. I know a few old Buffy fans who had never even heard of Dollhouse before last Friday when I told them about it.

Oh, and a question:

I read somewhere that when you watch on websites like Hulu that also counts as "ratings." Is this true? Because telling people they can watch it free online anytime with limited commercial interruption is probably going to get more than telling them it's on Friday nights on Fox.

I certainly hope that's true. I have a bunch of drama-friends who rehearse and perform on Fridays and so they *always* watch it on Hulu.

This reminds me of that big Free Tookie campaign that many people were involved in some time ago.. we could all take pictures like

but of course, or at least I would hope, they read Free or Save Echo (or some such) then we SPAM the hell outta Fox with the images.. in place of signatures... it would be the million doll march man, yeah, thats the ticket!

I'm not hugely into Dollhouse, but if someone scripts me something then I have a video recorder and I can get all prettied up and say something!
I would rather Dollhouse was saved then 99% of what's on television at the moment.

I have thought about this whole thing some more and have come up with some more ideas:

We could have an opening scene that goes like this:

(BB#1 calls BB#2)
BB#1: Hey, do you want to go out tonight?
BB#2: I would, but Dollhouse is on tonight!
BB#1: Why would you want to watch Dollhouse?
(our reasons start)

Also, I was thinking, the video shouldn't be too long. Of course we have lots of inormation to squeeze into it, but if it's lasting over several minutes, chances are that people might get bored and stop watching. Soooo, maybe it would be good if we made one short (possibly abridged), fast paced version, with a time limit of, say, 3 minutes, and then a longer version where we have some more information and stuff and don't really need to hurry.

So that would be my ideas so far, give me your feedback and, most importantly, feel free to post your own ideas. Creativity is very welcome 😀

Other than that, we should start by coming up with the reasons why to watch Dollhouse (since that is kinda the point of the video). So far the points that have come up (more or less serious) have been:
1. Buffy/Angel/Firefly alumni people
2. Girl on Girl kissing scenes (and those that have not seen the show don't know it was only once 😛)
3. Eliza in a domina outfit
4. Paul Ballard...shirtless!

I just put down everything I have heard so far, for the sake of having an overview. Obviously we don't have to use all of those, but the more we come up with, the more choice we have. Also, we could combine some of these (like 2-4 as 'the Dollhouse sexappeal fator').

So don't be shy people, put down as many reasons to watch the show as you can think of!
I don't want to be pushy, but I think the earlier we get this project going, the better.


Something very important towards the end, we need somebody to edit the video together. Worst case scenario, I could do it (although I'm pretty much a rookie and only have Windows Movie Maker, so nothing special), but it would be EXTREMELY good if we could find somebody with real editing skills and/or a good movie making programme. So if that's you, or somebody you know, we could really need it.

That is still a bit of an issue. The thing is, I think we all should be able to view all the contributions before somebody edits them together. Maybe everything could be uploaded to youtube with private settings, so only the people from the project could access it? Afterwards, everything relevant should be sent to the person who does the editing (and I hope that won't kill their harddrive capacity or what else ould happen), either via e-mail, or using something like rapidshare.

Well, once again, suggestions are very welcome!


Good idea with the music! This is probably something that could be done towards the end when we have a general direction in which the video clips go, so we can match the music. But yes, totally on board with that. Just remember to steer clear of copyright infringements 🙂

No, I mean I would LITERALLY make it.. either via the keyboard or make something via Cakewalk and MIDI. Nothing that could land anyone in trouble.
