Kendra vs. Buffy. Who would win and why?

We're lead to believe that Buffy just has the best combination of warrior skills.

Angel & Spike are FAR more resilient. It's not even close, since bullets and being impaled just slow them down, but put Buffy in critical condition. They're also far more seasoned warriors, yet Buffy hasn't lost a fight to either.

Buffy said Fray's stronger, yet Buffy's make her the better warrior.

Same deal with Kendra, she has the training advantage, but Buffy just has other strengths that put her over the top.
 
Buffy! I agree with her that her emotions give her power. You have to have more than just moves and brute strength to win a fight. You have to be able to improvise when needed. I don't think Kendra had that in her. She was to set with the idea that if she did the moves right she would come out on top. Buffy, meanwhile, goes into the fight ready to adopt if she has to.

As far as putting her friends in danger to make her lose focus, I'm not sure that would work. She may run from the big fight to save her friends first, but once she made sure they where safe, she would have even more incentive to beat the person who put them in danger. Her passion would give her the strength do it.
 
I think Buffy would win. Kendra was good though, if she had got with Buffys crew she'd have become formidable with influence from Buffy and Giles. To me Faith v Kendra is more interesting, much more even fight.

I think Buffy would win because Kendra seems very sure that she's gonna win, like she feels superior just because she's been trained since she was a kid.
And Buffy seems very like she's not serious about what she's doing, with the "I don't care"-attitude and all, but she's a hell of a fighter. I think that would surprise Kendra, and she wouldn't be prepared for it, and yeah. Kendra would lose.
 
It really depends on which Buffy were talking about because season 1 Buffy doesnt stand much chance because she is very new to slaying and her combat skills are not that great. However in later seasons she is really a powerful slayer and she has shown us time and time again in those last years that she is no ordinary slayer and she could wipe the floor with almost anybody she faces.
Emotion is also a powerful factor here because as people above have said she seems to perform better when she is angry or wanting some vengence.
Kendra however wasnt in the show long and her combat skills were okay. She would probably defeat Buffy as she was in season 1 however in the later seasons Buffy gets more and more powerful and would certainly wipe the floor with Kendra. Kendra is however much more disciplined but this also means that she is predictable and almost emotionless which makes Buffy's unpredictability and emotion a + for Buffy.
It also depends on the weapons used and the enviroment. Buffy is better with a more chaotic enviroment where she can imrpovise and Kendra is better in a more contained enviroment.
 
If it's a fight at the time they met/that discussion was being had I sure would vote for Buffy. But I'm not so sure how it would end if it was Buffy that had been a slayer for such a short time as Kendra. Buffy grew a lot after coming to Sunnydale. So I'd say that experience is the deciding factor in this case. Although I probably should mention that I don't think Kendra would have improved as much as Buffy did if it had been her that came to Sunnydale instead of Buffy.

Buffy would've kicked Kendra's butt in season 1. Kendra didn't become a slayer before Buffy died, you know. 🙂
 
I agree - in a fight between Buffy & Kendra - Buffy wins.

In fact of the 3 slayers(Buffy, Kendra & Faith) - I would say Kendra is the weakest. Why - because she follows the Council's rules. Both Buffy & Faith are independent thinkers, that follow their instincts, and use their emotions. It's doubtful that Kendra could beat Faith either.

That said Buffy is more practical than Faith, as she tends to use her experience, & knowledge, as much as she does her emotions & instincts. Where as Faith (at least in seasons 3&4) is almost completely relies on her emotions & instincts.

Good point :)
Although Kendra had been brought up with her watcher and trained very well i still think Buffy would have won. Buffy uses her emotions to help her when fighting which is one of Kendra's weeknesses.

Kendra v Faith would be more even.
I think Kendra would have more chance beating Buffy than Faith would. Kendra and Buffy seemed very evenly matched in their Whats my line fight, and Kendras mindset was 'im The slayer, im the best' but Faith never seemed to believe she had what it takes to beat Buffy, like she accepted she was 2nd best, that would give Kendra the advantage imo.
