Kerry Concedes to Bush

Had I any respect for americans, it'd be lost right now.

Still, this elections don't feel completely right. For all the anti-Bush campaigns, he did win (and Kerry conceded) way to fast and easily and it's intriguing how the Russian parlamentary observer was shocked at the elections and said they violated US law.

Actually they took longer than usual to call this election.

So, Ol' Dubya Bush.....the Great Murderer Of Soldiers, has been re-elected, eh?

*sighs*

Four more years of his shyte. God help us.

What annoys me is apparently it was the good wholesome small town Christian moral folk that got him in front, mainly because Im all for gay marriage but I dont like in America so it doesn't really affect me, I just like whining.

Would be interesting if in four years time (well four and a half for the UK) Tony (to me he seems like he'll scrape through the next election) and George were out, wonder what it will be like with two whole new leaders.

Sorry for not knowing everything about this but I've got to ask, did he get 48% of the votes or 48% of the electoral' votes..? (Maybe I'm wondering about this or maybe it's just my way of saying I think your voting system is weird...)

Interesting, yes, cause they might be the two leaders you notice the most, and all that.. But I do think that we (the non-US non-UK people) is a lot more affected by what Bush does.. it's got a lot more to do with the world.. (But maybe you were just talking about US and UK and if that's it, never mind me.)

I wasnt going to put my 2 cents worth in but what the heck. I for one am extremely glad that Kerry conceded. You can sit and blame Bush for the war, but many people were behind him when our troops went into Iraq (the same ones are now saying that we were mislead). Kerry wanted to raise minimum wage, Bush opposed this.. I agree with Bush. Raising the minimum wage does not encourage our youth (or country) to want to better themselves by learning a trade or getting a degree. IMO it only keeps them stagnant in remaining in low position jobs, some just bouncing around aimlessly.(again just my opinion) Kerry wanted to re-instate affirmative action...NO NO NO. Would you want to lose the chance at a job that you are qualified for just because a quota needs to be filled. What does that say to our American youth? Kerry was also quite wishywashy about how our country would pay for many of the programs that he would put into effect. Bush isnt perfect, none of our presidents have been. You dont have to like him, but the majority of our country decided that he was the right man for the job and he was re-elected fair and square. Ok, there are my 2 cents worth.. attack away. *ducking all the rotten eggs flying in my direction*

I'm so excited that Bush won.

I find the whole liberal scene to be a bit too cliche, not to mention the half a million lines of hypocrisy Kerry spouts daily.

As for '08, theres that whole Hilary thing being discussed, but if most Republicans get their way, a John McCain/Rudy Giuliani ticket, Hilary won't have nothing.

Because with the respect McCain has and the admiration Giuliani commands, they will be practically unstoppable. Heres to hopin'!

And if any of you still believe that Kerry was the better candidate consider the verbal attacks he made against his fellow soldiers once he came back(while some were still over there and being held hostage), not to mention his 20 year record of down-grading public security and about a million other things I could say if I didn't have class in a few.

Thanks, B!

And I'm not making any comments on the US electoral system, 'cause check it out, not American here! To be fair, the Canadian system sucks more, because you can have a party with less than a majority of the popular vote forming a majority government...and that's just wrong, IMO.

Well, in Sweden, where minimum wages are much higher than in the US (though living standards are lower), people still strive their asses off to educate themselves and get better jobs.
I don't agree at all with what you're saying and I don't think it works like that at all.

killerdwarf, yeah, that doesn't sound good.. (doesn't make the US system better though..)

I'm sorry, but raising the minimum wage isn't going to keep people from learning a trade or getting a degree. It's a matter of giving those who were unable to furthur themselves through education and apprenticeship a better chance at providing for themselves and others that may depend on them.

A homeless person isn't going to be able to earn a decent living making $5.15 an hour, and they really don't have the option at that point of enriching themselves.

I for one, would never be satisfied making the minimum wage and not educating myself. They were in talks of raising the minimum wage to somewhere around $7.00-$7.50 I believe. I don't know where you are all from, but you certainly earn a decent living in my area on that. I make more than double that now as a student paying my way through college and it's still tough.

I also am happy Bush won, but I'm looking at it from the Canadian perspective.

I don't know why, but for some reason having power-crazed, brain deficient, nut jobs in charge of our big brother country to the south seems to be bad for them, but good for us. From a purely selfish perspective, I don't mind that.

It goes like this...

Bad economic policies hurt the American economy. The Canadian dollar goes up.

The Bush-boys decided to go all protectionist along the border preventing stuff like Canadian beef from crossing the border, telling the lie that it's about Mad cow disease. No problem. The processing used to be done in America. Now that industry is moving up north. By trying to hurt us, they've actually helped us. We only hope the Bush-boys are dumb enough to do the same thing with Canadian oil, and were optimistic. You can never underestimate the stupidity of the Bush-boys.

Speaking of which the war kind of helped us too. First of all we didn't go, so that kind of helps us avoid the stigma we were starting to acquire of being thought of as America's toady. This new world image helps with stuff like being able to broker deals in international diplomacy situations. Also, I hate to be so crass, but there's no way to not say it, and still be truthful. We're less likely to be a terrorist target.

Then there's Ashcroft's whole death to privacy campaign, where something like the Patriot act can be used to create secret police forces from existing sources and new private police forces such as the entertainment industry's new piracy police force.

As the American's lose their privacy, Canada starts to look good by comparison. The people with the most to lose such intellectuals will more and more consider enriching our country by moving here. It's already happening. I saw a story about it on the news last night.

Bad economic policies N4H?

The only thing I see wrong with our economy is free trade. And by the way, NAFTA was taken into effect by the liberals, the most notable of which was Mr. Bill-I like Blue Dress Wearing' Interns-Clinton.

The economy is actually starting to boom once again. Bush has actually been able to increase jobs very well not to mention that the unemployment rate is starting to decrease and its already quite low now.

Our economy would actually be better if Republicans had been in control of the country sooner (1992-2000), because:

1. 9/11. Bill Clinton actually knew where Osama bin Laden was hiding while he was in office.

2. The Corporate Scandals actually happened while Clinton was in office.

3. FRIGGIN' NAFTA and all our other agreements which allow greedy corporations to ship jobs over seas where workers work for like 90% less than American workers.

Ah, it's apparently Clinton bashing day in Comma's world. But so many unfortunate events can be traced back to his term.

And with all those things that happened during Bush's term, he has created what 1.6 or 1.8 million jobs. Sounds pretty good to me.

And as for our intellectuals fleeing the United States, I personally do not see that happening. We are still the forerunner in most sciences and mathematics and our research programs are extremely well funded and admired.

Non-Americans don't understand what it felt like to have our country attacked so viciously, so of course we are going to retaliate and enforce such things as the Patriot Act. And as for the whole Internet Movie/Music Downloading Piracy thing, its 21st century theft, and theft = illegal.

The War on Terror and the War in Iraq was a stepping stone so events like 9/11 and the Holocaust wouldn't happen again.

I don't agree that the United States should be a World Police, but we had to take out the terrorists like Osama bin Laden and Saddam, who notoriously hid terrorists in his country. We have to protect the world from the use of WMD and genocide. Because the UN isn't apparently enforcing it's power as efficiently as it should be.

The Canadian dollar was down as low as 76 cents in relation to the American dollar. With Republican leadership in the United States our dollar is up to 82 cents.

Keep up the good work Gee doubleya :: tu :: . We Canadians are behind you 100%.

Wrong. Copying files from the internet is not illegal in most of the world, according to rules of fair use. Just copying is not theft. Theft is when person A takes a physical object from person B, who then is no longer in possession of that object. It's true that those who copy copyrighted music or whatever to burn and sell for profit, are criminals - but most people don't do that..

If one thing should be clear by no - admitted by the Bush government - it is that the Saddam regime had nothing what so ever to do with Al-Queda or Usama or any known terrorists. Nor were there any WMD.
While I, like most people, don't regret that Saddam is overthrown, thousands and thousands of innocent Iraqians have been killed by US troops. Was it worth it for them? "Protecting" your country is more worth than their lives..?
You say that you "had" to take out terrorists like Usama and Saddam cause they hid terrorrists.. But most of the 9/11 bombers were Saudis.. (Wanna start a war there too..?)

Actually , the area that I live in does not start its employees off at minimum wage, but above minimum. (I have waitressed for $2.01/hr plus tips, and still made ends meet.)You may not agree with me but I do not feel that raising it will do any more than increase taxes for lower class and reduce earned income credit for families that do rely on it at tax time. I also feel that it would discourage workers already making $7.00 because they have worked their way up to that wage only to have new hires come in making the same amount with less experience. Not only that but many companies will not offer raises as frequently because their payroll will be too high and it could force many small companies out of business because they are unable to cover these wages in addition to having them reduce benefits in return for higher wages. Perhaps I am wrong, but that is how I feel.

Slayer,The , unfortunately our boards wont let me give you rep right now, but if I could it would be to infinity. Well Said!!!!!!

Did I say anything about the rest of the world in my post? No, my post was about the piracy in the United States, so anything you say about the rest of the world is irrelevant to this discussion.

And yes the copying of music onto your computer and distributing it is the exact same thing as burning a million CDs and selling them. Because the people who download these songs from you could be just doing that.

And are you sure you know the exact definition of theft, since I assume it would have to be reprised because of the information age. And I do believe that theft does not have to involve physical objects. You can thieve information, data et cetera.

So yes, downloading music is theft because your simply receiving the service but your not paying for it.

Are you completely forgetting a little thing called Desert Storm? Where Saddam practically engaged in genocide of the citizens of Kuwait in which he used WMD.

Yes it does feel bad to know that innocent Iraqis were killed by this war, but whose to say they wouldn't have been killed by Saddam, who knows he wouldn't have brought war upon himself. Right before the war, he was trying to get his hands on WMD. What if we hadn't invaded and Saddam would have gotten what he wanted? Would you still continue on with your little liberal rants?

Not to mention that the three most powerful countries in the world received the same intel that said that Saddam was in fact hiding of WMD destruction. Granted that this information was faulty, it was enough of proof to go to war with him.

Although now we know there was no WMD, we admit that. But were creating a new democratic society that used to be overpowered by a foul dictator.

And were not going to start wars with everyone because terrorists are from there countries, were trying to fight a war against these agencies of terror. DUH! If we wanted to start a war with everyone country that had a citizen who was a terrorist, then there would be a lot more wars on our hand.
