You’ve heard of bug repellant but did you know there’s such a thing as kid repellant? We didn’t know either until a couple out of Suffolk, UK made headlines after using such a device!

Michael Mitchell and his wife Kathryn have been threatened with legal action by the council after neighbours complained about the couple using an ‘Ultrasonic Teen Deterrent‘ device on local children. The Mitchells say they bought the device after becoming fed up with the noise of the nextdoor neighbour’s kids.

The device, which sells for around $300 online, emits a sound that most adults can’t hear. Children can hear it though — it causes extreme discomfort to them.

‘Beth’s children have been in the tears because the sound gets to them so much. The Mitchells have had it switched on for long periods so you cannot get away from it’, says a friend of the nextdoor neighbour’s children.

Kathryn Mitchell has said that the device is necessary to ‘keep the peace': ‘For the last two years life has been pretty unbearable. That woman and her kids have made our lives a living hell. Buying the device was a last resort and we have checked that it is 100 per cent legal’.

What's really cool is that when you go to the company website they show samples of the noise. Now 'kids' are downloading the noise to use as a ringtone, so that when their phone rings only people below a certain age can hear it and their parents/teacher cant hear it ringing. That's actually pretty ingenious.

Here is the company website.. you should go on there and play the 24 and younger and see if Abbs can hear it. I could not hear a thing. I could barely hear the 30 & younger.

Shops have been using these things for years. It's absolutely disgusting in my opinion. If it were targeted at any other group then it would be illegal but because young people have no power everyone is free to treat them like crap.

This will work until some kid puts on a pair of earmuffs and destroys the thing. Then they will have to go after the nastiest kid repellent of all: broccoli.

So, other stores are now using them outside of their terraces to keep smokers from congregating there and polluting the air. Is that any more or less offensive than using it for loitering kids?

It has long been a fact that older people stop hearing high pitch sounds which according to research teams begins at age 29 and two months (sorry about that quip for a hearing are you, huh Gwen? You do gets points for who it was for, but not as many as you lost for making it.)
Another research facility (said to be in the twilight zone where Polar Bears roam they are suspected secret agents protecting Santa's home) are developing Broccoli and Mandrake to be a singular plant. So if the sound don't get the kidlywinks, the smell will. On another front there are researchers trying to add a French Lavender (to the Broccoli/ Mandrake plant) to help babies (up to three years old) get extra sleep.

I didn't specify which French Lavender as there as almost 700 varieties of Lavender, but French Lavenders are the sort which have a greater perfume.

Odd one is that, I've heard that eating greens can make your hair get twisty, I didn't realise it included watching it as well.
