Anyone here ever had a kidney stone? I have to have surgery a week from Tuesday to have a very large stone removed. They have to cut into my kidney to remove it.

I am scared to death, and I was hoping someone else had been through this.

My dad had one, it was a very simple procedure that lasteda few hours, after a few days of rest he was back at work fit as a fiddle.

I wouldn't think there was anything to worry about.

i remember my uncle being in hospital with kidney stones when i was about 7...but all i really remember is him singing Beatles songs at the top of his lungs 'cause he was high on morphine! i think he got out the next day, which couldn't have been that bad.

This is something different. I have already had one surgery that was supposed to be pretty simple, an hour long, outpatient surgery. It took three hours and I was in the hospital for three days. That wasn't as serious as this one. If I don't have it done, I will have complete kidney failure within a couple of months. They have to literally slice me open to get it out.

That is something to be scared about I think

If you didn't want people to reassure you, why did you post?

I didn't mean to offend anyone. I was just explaining what the surgery was. I have had kidney stone surgery where I was out of the hospital the next day.

Like I said, I am sorry if I offended anyone, it wasn't my intention.
