I remember her from Early Edition, but didn't watch Kristy in Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie until recently. I didn't find it as bad as some found it. No special effects like the series with the vampires exploding and turning to dust. I am most familiar with her from watching Psych. Kristy played the love interest/wife for one of the main characters. Kristy also starred in a lifetime movie called Bad Stepmother. She played the Bad Stepmother. As for her other movies and tv series or guest star spots I am not very familiar.

This. Exactly. And that's why I say that when/if, they reboot it again, it was to be totally different than Gellar's Buffy 2.0. There's nothing wrong with having three different types of Buffys and being able to appreciate all of them for what they did well.

I don't mind three different types of Buffy's either, that said I don't think the movie did Joss' original script justice. When you read it you can see that it would have been an absolutely classic Vampire film. On a par with The Lost Boys, Fright Night, the best Hammer movies etc.

I would have loved to have seen a Buffy movie like Joss' that led into the series properly. It's a shame that we never saw the tv Buffy's origin finding out she was a Slayer because the film kind of botched it.

That said I did love the film as a child and saw it before the tv series and it is as even Whedon would admit not without merit.

On a par with The Lost Boys, Fright Night,

I don't much care for those at all. Both are highly overrated in my opinion. Would much rather watch Buffy again before watching either of those. Granted, I may have bias towards Lost Boys.

What's your bias towards Lost Boys?

Personally I love those movies. You can tell that Joss' original script was pretty much a spiritual successor to those movies as indeed was the Buffy tv show. Sunnydale could be just a few miles down the road from Santa Barbara.

I didn't see that much difference between the script and the movie, honestly. But it's been a while since I read the script. I know I do love the ending of the script, it was a great ending.

This chick I was fornicating with at the time said it was the scariest movie she had ever seen. I went in there expecting ... something scary and was really disappointed. I've tried rewatching it and it just never clicks.

As far as Fright Night, the remake was far better in my opinion.

The plot is the same but I'd say the differences are.

The Vampires are genuinely frightening. They kill people in gruesome, visceral ways, they Vamp out. Lothos in particular is much better. He is thoroughly evil, gets a chance to show how powerful he is and his death is also a lot more gorey. (Buffy burns his face off.)

The lore matches the show. There is a Watchers council, rather than a pseudo immortal man.

Buffy is more vulnerable. There is a sad moment where she realises how short her life expectancy will be, and she and Merrick develop more of a bond.

Also they left out this exchange.

Merrick: You've heard of the Emperor Caligula and Jack the Ripper.

Buffy: They were both Vampires?

Merrick: They were the same Vampire.

I think Kirsty Swanson is totally differernce then Sarah Michelle Geller .

Kristy in my mind played a tough Slayer while Sarah played a softer Slayer . That just the way I saw it .

I love TV Movies so I've seen her in a lot and it is always a treat. I think she's great. and very pretty too. I still haven't seen her as Cathy in the 1987 version of Flowers in the Attic, but I'm dying to after my last re-read.
