Question LA instead of the desert?

What if instead of heading to the desert in season 5 they went to LA instead? They arrive in LA just after Cordelia has gone to Pylea, but before Wesley has found a way to get the rest of them there.

What do you think would have happened then? Would they have all gone to Pylea, just Angel and co, maybe they could have taken Dawn with them?

Then what would have happened...? Dawn stays in Pylea while the others wait? What would have happened to Buffy? As in...the show? I mean how would they have filmed that? Do the others go back to Sunnydale while Dawn is in Pylea? That would have solved their problems a little too easily.
