Languages (learn/speak/understand...)

I can speak a smidge of French, but I understand it more if others are speaking to me. I took French for a couple years in high school, and I was good then, but it's been six years since then.... so not so good anymore.

If you need to know my name or want me to order you ice cream or ask where the library is, I'm your girl. 🙂

Yea... I have started learning several languages, but I tend to get bored and stop... I can speak English and French... And I know some Spanish and Serbian... Oh, and I can swear in several other languages, and can say "Who's Your Daddy?" in about 20 different way 😉

Yea okay, I sort of get the Russian thing, or not. But maybe I hear it a different way, being Swedish speaking and not English speaking (originally). Hm. I guess we have different ears in a way.

I'm Swedis speaking and want to learn Russian. But maybe that's me just being weird.

Sooo I gotta ask: What's up with everyone wanting to learn Russian? Am I the only one who thinks that Russia is scary and a bit weird and I don't wanna go there ever again..? (Um, no offence to anyone, really, it's just me, totally, lol..)

Seriously? You've been to Russia? You're lucky if you did... I really don't find Russian a scary language... maybe it's a bit weird because of the different alphabet but once you get used to it, it's really wonderful! Have you seen handwritten Russian, it's beautiful.. & hearing the language? I find it lulling, really. Like I've been to watch a play performed in Russian (with subtitles on a screen) & it was trully the best play I ever seen (the language is part of the reason why, the actors & script another).
Or have you listened to Russian song.. alright I know it's not the best thing to quote TATY but the songs they sing in Russian really sound lovely... anyway, as you said, maybe it's just the ear thing 😀

^ Yeah I've been in Russia, living with a Russian family for a week. I've neen in Petrozavodsk, working on a children's home (except, there were no children there, ah, so we just built stuff and such), and in St. Petersburg.
I agree that handwritten Russian is beautiful, definitely. But yea, I can't say I think the language (spoken) is that beautiful. Although, it's mostly the country that "scares" me, and not the language. But I know that has got a lot to do with my experience of Russia, and some of the people I met there (I'm saying some, because other were really nice.. But those some kinda ruined a lot for me/us)...

Ok..well I kinda know English..lol..German(tho I understand mre than I can say),Russian(which I hate so much it's not even funny..it's enough to say I wouldn't mind using a nuke on Russia and Russian teachers) and a bit of Latin. Of course I can quite underrstand also Czech or however you spell it and Slovakian.

Ohh and I know Polish too!!!😉

I'd love to learn better German and start Spanish classes..maybe also Swedish??

I can speak English (yay me!) as its my mother tongue. Did French for like 8 years and remember nothing, and German for a year and know even less.

Like a few people here I want to learn Japanese, have done for years. Know bits and pieces from playing Shenmue (ace game!) and watching subtitled anime. I tried to learn but things got in the way. Could try this summer, as I have 3 months off between college and uni.
