languages you speak

I speak Croatian, English, Italian, Slovenian, Slovakian, Bosnian, Serbian.. I know a little bit of German, I've learned it for 2 years, but never got the hang of it.. I know a little bit of Polish, French and Spanish, just the basics and few words in Japanese. I plan to learn French a lot better in this upcoming year.
 
Native english I also speak arabic pretty fluently. I know enough korean to get by though only spoken never learned to read or write it.
 
Native portuguese speaker, fluent in english, french, italian and spanish. When I was younger I started learning gaelic, latin and greek but only had a few lessons of each. Maybe one day I'll go back to those.
 
I speak English. I learnt French and German in high school but only remember bits of them as i wasn't very good back then lol.
I am starting to learn Italian too. I was wanted to learn Spanish instead but my housemate is half Italian so she can teach me how to pronounce words etc

This made me think about how much has happened in Europe since I was a child. My family went to Poland (on a ten day road trip) in the summer of -89, when I had just turned 12. English was of little use most of the time, German got us a bit on the way, whereas it seemed like everyone spoke Russian. Poland has always fascinated me, I'd like to go back again. (And again, and again - we've had a couple of short trips to Krakow.)

You know, people from other countries often laugh about polish people because they don't know English very well. There are many causes. In 70s and 80s in Poland knowing English was useless. Russian was very important because there were so many opportunities to take a job in which you need to know this language. In 90s, after falling of communism, to Poland went more English culture and everything. Todays people in their 20s know English because they started to learn it in 90s. Teenagers in Poland usually know English in communicative way. To older people it's hard to learn new language but I see that they try. You know, English culture, words, are everywhere.

I know English better because I lived in England. Before I had problems with that (I could communicate, but wasn't very good at it) because I'm not good at languages, they come to me really hard.

I was always jealous for English-native speakers because they don't need to learn other languages to communicate with people. They often think that everyone should know their language.
 
I am a native English speaker, and I took 2 years of Spanish in high school but I don't remember very much. I can speak a little of it if I have to, and I can still read a little but that's about it.
 
My main language is french. I can speak and understand english pretty well, and I also do okay with māori. Also a few words of japanese, I guess. 😛

Native in German, very good in English, and some pathetic remains of two years school French.

Also, I love Latin - never was fluent in that, but I think I could still cobble up a pretty good translation of most Latin texts with a dictionary (I totally admire people who do actually speak Latin fluently... like my first Latin teacher at school. Caustic jerkass personality, but a fraking genius in the subject he taught.)
