Last Guardian(!!) of the Hellmouth

Ok, in the slayer-line instability thread, there were some mentions about Buffy being the Last Guardian of the Hellmouth according to the shadowmen, which got me thinking... how funky is that, they call her a Guardian... and later we meet some senile lady also claiming to be a Guardian... can this be coincidence... did the Man They Call Joss run out of titles to give to functions in his mythology?!? Or is there some spooky larger plan at work here.

Anybody wanna tell me whether this is a freak of nature or the next Nobel prize?!

I would give u a noble prize anyway, but I don't think the two are connected.
Guardian means someone that guards something, The Guardians guarded the Slayer, and Buffy guarded the Hellmouth.

Awh, thanks for the Nobel prize; the first of many lets hope 😉

Anyhow, there's another refference where Giles calls Slayers Guardians... and my personal theory is that the Guardians are dead Slayers, but erm, that aside... it just seems a bit... odd, all of a sudden they start calling Buffy a Guardian, which they never did any of the previous seasons, and at about the same time this other alledged Guardian takes the stage.


Oh, and I do know what Guardian means 😛 but thanks for clearing it up anyhow 😉

so, you think that Guardians are past slayers, huh, Allycat?
does this mean Xin-Rong, Nikki and Kendra are now Guardians?
and if this is true, does anyone else think that it might have been better if the guardian buffy met, if she was a past slayer, turned out to be one of the past slayers we had already met?

Well Guardians are just guardians of the slayer. She as much as said that when she was telling Buffy how she was the last Guardian. They used to watch the watchers.

But on "Guadians of the Hellmouth", I've got a wild one that's just for fun.

The Shadowmen say Buffy is the last guardian of the Hellmouth. We know there are other Hellmouths, so how could that be?

What if from the perspective of whatever plane of existence the Shadowmen are now on this whole earthly reality of ours is one big Hellmouth, so when Buffy plugs it in one spot she plugs the whole thing. 🙂

They could also refer to her hellmouth as the hellmouth, because she'll know which one they're talking about; that's just a gerenal prerequisite for using the definite article.

However, maybe the Shadow-men, in anticipation of what is to come or prophetically, realise that Buffy or rather the Slayer in her will be distributed throughout all potentials, and they together form the last Guardian of the Hellmouth.

I don't know how to fit that with Fray though... then again... wasn't Melaka the Guardian of a Hellmouth too!?
