I've seen a couple of news articles now talking about Tim Allen's Last Man Standing being cancelled. I've never seen the show, never heard of it until now actually. There's now a petition to boycott the network or get it renewed. Apparently according to the petition it's been cancelled for having Conservative views. I can't find that confirmed anywhere though. I browsed through the comments to try to figure out what it was all about but couldn't find much other than Conservative views, not left leaning etc. The only details I could find on a quick look was this:

"ABC is politically bigoted and hypocritical in it's airing and selection of shows to broadcast. Allowing pro-gay, liberally slanted shows such as Modern Family to run, while cancelling well rated conservative shows such as Last Man Standing."

Which just leads me to assume the show is "anti-gay" or homophobic.

Anyway just out of curiosity really, has anyone seen the show? Is it any good? Care to shed some light on the values or cancellation debate?

I just saw some blurb somewhere about the cancellation having to do with something about adressing gun rights on the show? I'm not sure. I hadn't heard of it before and was surprised to learn that Tim Allen was still on TV!

After hearing about the cancellation a few days ago, I watched the first episode online, and I couldn't find anything offensive about it. Of course, that doesn't rule out something developing in later episodes, but, still, considering some of the other shows on TV, with their distinctly liberal leanings, I don't think that anything on Allen's show could be excessively offensive.

I guess this just goes to illustrate once more, liberals can dish it out, but they can't take it.

But that's the thing. I can't see anything that says the reason it was cancelled or anything about complaints from liberals. Just seems like it's been cancelled and someone has decided it's the liberals fault out of thin air.

Noooooo, not Buzz Lightyear! *sobs*

I'm not aware of the details, but I think that the argument is that the show, one of the few to feature conservatives in a positive way, is being cancelled, despite good ratings, by the liberal executives running the network. It's not so much a case of the liberals wanting the show cancelled as it is the conservatives wanting it to stay, and their argument seems to hold some amount of water, since, apparently, shows with more liberal agendas, but lower ratings, are being kept.

Again, that's just my understanding of the situation, given what few details that I have seen. Someone with more knowledge of the case might be able to shed more light on the subject. It does seem to be more than simple coincidence, however, that, with very few exceptions, TV shows today are produced depicting characters with distinctly liberal leanings. Other than Tom Selleck on "Blue Bloods," I can't think of very many shows featuring distinctly conservative characters.

This is silly. The show ran for 6 seasons, that is a nice television run. The ratings have been described as "decent" but never "good". ABC isn't the creator of the show, Fox makes it and sells it to ABC; so that factor can play into earning potential for Disney significantly. This isn't even the biggest show that they just announced wouldn't be returning in the fall. People always look for a malicious reason behind decisions...if this show was More profitable for Disney it would be returning or rights to it would be sold to another studio.

One of those things that always seems to go both ways. Conservatives love saying liberals can't take anything, meanwhile their own side seems to get riled up by things like Starbucks coffee cups etc. Might be time to realize that the dichotomy is not really serving anyone's real interest, just driving a further wedge between people and increasing partisanship, hindering bipartisanship and again, really not serving any purpose but supporting petty feuding and moments of self-righteous satisfaction.

Mystery solved. As with most things it basically boiled down to money:

Haha, go figure, isn't it always so? Guess it makes for 'sexier' news to give it a more scandulous reason.

Yep, that would always be my first guess. I'd be absolutely astounded to hear a massive company pulling a money maker because of slight political leaning. That's why I was a curious reading the story originally because it didn't seem to add up. On top of that I figured it was unlikely to be a result of "liberal outrage" since the general idea is to live and let live. I mean I used to really enjoy Top Gear, despite Clarkson being a complete tool.

It sounds to me that the political issue was used just as a excuse to avoid them just coming out and saying its a money/ratings thing😉

The six season run should keep Allen ticking over to the next Toy Story film😉

If this is the show I'm thinking of I'm pretty sure the UK has only just got it which is so like us😛

Yeah the politics behind this would be absolutely meaningless if it was making tons of cash, since money is the all important factor in our world. A good example is the so-called GAY AGENDA that conservatives cry about, when it's just called marketing. Businesses see a market and decide whether it's worth going for that money. Because money. Besides, what the hell is the gay agenda? To what end? They're trying to turn you gay? Conservatives must have the most fluid sexuality of all if they can be gayed up so easy.

I watched a scene from the show that criticizes how America became too politically correct. I thought it was very funny.
