And a new interview with Joss that includes Avengers info, plus a tidbit about a Dr. Horrible sequel!
..Interview: Joss Whedon Assembles "˜The Avengers'
By Matt McDaniel | Movie Talk "“ Thu, Nov 17, 2011 7:34 PM EST

As an unabashed fanboy of Joss Whedon's creations on TV ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Angel"), film ("Serenity") and the internet ("Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog"), I was thrilled to get to speak to him. Considering the subject was "The Avengers," it was truly a trip to nerd paradise. In my full interview with Whedon, we talked about the challenges of working with an ensemble of A-list stars, how he developed the individual stories for Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson, and the week of filming he thought would prove he was bullet-proof (and the subsequent scenes that proved him wrong).
It's long, so read the rest of it here: http://movies.yahoo.com/blogs/movie-talk/interview-joss-whedon-assembles-avengers-003451761.html

I really, REALLY hope that this movie lives up to all of its expectations.

Yeah, me too. i'll be really disappointed if it stinks. But if the other recent Marvel movies give us any indication of qualify, we'll probably be OK. Except for Iron Man 2. But still, even if it's similar to that, it's not horrible!

Well, I don't like 3D anyway.
I don't know why so many people think that 3D is so great, but I think a good movie needs more than a few things flying at you.
If a movie is rubbish without 3D, it'll be rubbish with 3D as well. If a movie really is good, it's good without 3D.
And I so hope that this movie is good and not only it's 3D effects. And if the effects suck, I don't give a rat's rear.

Cool, I'm definitely looking forward to The Avengers, and the new Hulk movie as well. All the Marvel movies that have been related to this have been decent so far... except for Captain America. That movie was garbage.

Wow shadcat, first negative karma I've ever gotten. Just for expressing my opinion on a movie. Thanks.

WWGD sorry I didn't mean that personally, as I didn't think of it as taking away from your reputation.. I just wanted to comment on it not being garbage. It says "agree" or "disagree" so I feel that is what it is there for. Feel free to take away from mine

I'm not sure when we're suppose to write disagree if ever. I mean, it does say disagree, but people seem to take that the wrong way.

I see. It just seems a bit offensive for someone to degrade your reputation for just sharing your opinion. I get the whole disagree thing, but people have disagreed with me in the past (in their comment) and still given me positive karma just for stimulating conversation. It's not that big a deal though, I'm over it 😀

(I still think the movie was really bad though.) 😛

I really liked Captain America, i thought it had everything, action, humour and a love story, so I was happy with it. I didnt realise they were making another Hulk film, I really wish they wouldnt, there has already been two.

I really cant wait for the Avengers film though. I wonder how they'll explain how Thor and Loki get back to Earth, and with Natalie Portman not being in the film either.

Karma is there for people to disagree, people are free to use the disagree option if they want.

It's not offensive at all.

I disagree with this.

Thats exactly what the disagree option saves, it mean you don't have to waste space in a thread for a post that just says "I disagree".

If your fine with people agreeing with you, and adding to your karma, you should be fine disagreeing with you.

Wait a minute- a new Hulk movie? Don't we already have 2 different ones LOL? I liked Captain America, but not as much as Thor and Iron Man (the 1st one, the 2nd was just ok, I hope the 3rd is even better!).

I guess I didn't realize that Natalie Portman wasn't going to be in the Avengers. 🙁 Wonder why?

If I recall correctly, and it's been a long, LONG time since I read it. the first "Avengers" comic was about Loki trying to conquer or destroy the world, with Thor trying to stop him and his followers, with the help of Iron Man, the Hulk, Ant Man and the Wasp. (Captain America didn't join the team until Issue 3) If the movie follows at least that much of the original story, that's why Thor and Loki are back on earth.

I think it was because she was pregnant at the time. She is said to be in Thor 2 though.

Oh good, whew!

I think that will be down to Nick Fury and SHEILD, if he can wake up Captain America after 70 years then I'm sure he has the means to bring Thor down to earth. I'm glad Natalie Portman won't be in The Avengers, it made sense from the start, although I have heard Gwyneth Paltrow MAY make a small cameo herself. It's nice to know that none of the love interests will be in the film and it's just about heroes coming together for a common cause.

I'm slightly peeved that it's now being converted to 3D I was really hoping Joss would stay away from that. Thor wasn't great in 3D but I thought it was better in 2D.

And in the "Now I know what to buy my little one for his upcoming 5-year old birthday in April"- Avengers Lego Kits!!!
Lego Marvel makes minifigs of The Avengers movie

25 January 2012 14:43 GMT / By Stuart Miles

Lego has detailed its new range of Lego Marvel characters to Pocket-lint at this year's Toy Fair in London.

Shown behind closed doors with a strict no photography policy, we sadly can't bring you any pictures of the new sets, although we are able to bring you plenty of juicy details, describing them to the best of our abilities.

The new sets, due out at the beginning of April in time for the launch of the new The Avengers movie, will not only let you recreate scenes from the movie with your favourite Marvel characters, but also that you'll be able to pit Marvel against DC Comics characters for the first time (in Lego form).

That means Batman vs Iron Man. Wow.

But, while you try and get over the myriad of mega battles that become possible if you also snap up some of the DC-licensed Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman offerings, let us tell you a bit more about the Lego Marvel sets that you should get excited about.

The Minifigs themselves are perfectly sculptured Lego versions of the comic book film adaptations and, unlike the Lego Batman sets already on sale, aren't a hybrid of styles. They're more specific to the latest flick than the Adam West/Michael Keaton/Christian Bale mish-mash of the rival franchise.

They also offer a wider variety of superhero characters. The new Lego Marvel sets include Iron Man (complete with lift-up face helmet to reveal Tony Stark and his goatee), Black Widow from S.H.I.E.L.D., Thor, Loki, Captain America and, best of all, the Incredible Hulk.

And, rather than just a general green minifig, the Hulk is considerably larger than the rest. Its footprint is a mighty 12 Lego spaces rather than the normal minifigs' standard two. As the cartoon drawing shows above, he really is that much bigger than your standard Lego character.

Lego has told us there will be other baddies as well as Thor's brother Loki. We didn't have them to show as it would give the game away for the movie, but the smart money is on Thanos and/or The Skrulls.

In fact, the film's plot and reveals are so shrouded in secrecy that a Lego spokesman said to us that the company doesn't even know what happens. All it knows is that there will be certain characters involved in certain scenes with certain vehicles.

One of those scenes involves the Quinjet, a jet plane that the Avengers get about in. And that amazingly (and naturally) translates into the chance for you to build one out of Lego. Characters included with that specific set will be Black Widow, Loki (who is in the hold), Thor and Iron Man.

As with previous Lego tie-ins you will need to buy multiple sets to get the entire Avengers crew. Thankfully, Captain America comes on his own with his bike, but to get Hulk you will need to buy a different set. The "other" baddie that Lego wouldn't detail also comes with his own set.

Other sets include a scientist's lab to analyse Loki. However, neither we nor Lego know how that fits into the movie.

The new sets are expected to be available from 1 April - in time for the film that hits cinemas on the 28 April.

More gift ideas! Avengers action figures by Hasbro:
Hasbro and Marvel Unveil The Avengers Action Figures
January 23, 2012

Hasbro and Marvel have unveiled seven action figures from the upcoming The Avengers action figure line that will be in stores ahead of the film's theatrical release this May.
Snagging the spotlight for their own individual images are Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Captain America (Chris Evans) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). Iron Man appears to be wearing new Mark VII armor that will debut in The Avengers, hence the circular chest piece in lieu of the triangular one seen in Iron Man 2.

The money shot features The Avengers assembling with those four core characters joined by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). In the foreground is Loki in full Asgardian armor, ready to take on The Avengers with his still mysterious and unnamed army. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is nowhere to be found.

These Hasbro 3 3/4" action figures will probably arrive in stores sometime in early April. The Avengers film hits theaters on May 4, 2012.

Alright, I'm confused, the one article says that the Avengers will premiere on April 28th, the other on May 4th. Which one is right?

Did everyone (US and non US) see The Avengers Super Bowl ad. It looks amazing for just over 1 minute. The extra footage is really building this film up personally, also I just beam in pride knowing Joss has directed this film. 😀
