Latest Avengers news

. Comments on this post [MENTION=10790]Goby[/MENTION] agrees: Spoiler-free, Queenie!!! But I'll need to know if my 10 year old can go.
Well if we go before you I'll let you know. But I think I'm a bit more lenient than you about about TV & movies- well maybe not. I did let my 11 yr old go with us to see the Hunger Games and that's as "bad" as I've let him see. And it was the subject matter that was intense more than any of the visuals. Anyway, from what we're seeing in the trailers, it appears to be on the same level as the other Marvel movies. The special effects look amazing!!

im so wanting to see this movie it has all my favs in it

i been a fan of marvel comics for years and most likely will forever lol

So I take it no one has watched the exclusive behind the scenes clips floating around on YouTube? There are 4 in total lasting 5 minutes, there's no sound apart from The Avengers score but they are really interesting to watch. As far as I could see there were no spoilers in it. Check out Joss wearing his "Buffy" coat though. 😀

Some SPOILER-FREE reviews from Twitter of the premiere:

“Absolutely loved THE AVENGERS. Was smiling from beginning to end. If you’re a Marvel fan you’re going to lose your shit in the theater…Also, the two things that made [HASHTAG]#THEAVENGERS[/HASHTAG] amazing: the Hulk and the humor. Joss Whedon gets a 10 out of 10 on both of those.” Steve Weintraub

“THE AVENGERS. Finally, a Marvel film with a rousing finish. I’ll deal with the first two acts in my review… And that third act is more than enough to make THE AVENGERS the best Marvel movie yet.” Jeremy Smith

“The Avengers is pretty epic. There is probably more action in this film’s climax than all the other Marvel movie [sic] combines!… I have a lot of nitpicks in the first half. But second half is pretty solid.” Peter Sciretta

“That’ll do, Joss, that’ll do… Btw, avoid THE AVENGERS in 3D. Worthless. See it 2D… AVENGERS is good enough to make me forgive IRON MAN 2.” Devin Faraci

“The Avengers – Epic. EPIC! Everyone fights everyone, but it does deliver. Marvel’s movies get better every single one. Hulk! HULK!!… Some good shots, but overall the 3D is meh as usual.” Alex Billington

“Not a false note. Innovative. BRUTAL. And goddamn funny. Hype = believe it. #Avengers… It’s the bomb. I could not possibly say enough.” Josh Dickey

Please understand, my friends, that I say this with nothing but bitterness intended, but if "John Carter" had had one third the advertizing campaign that "The Avengers" has had, it would be the biggest money maker of the year so far. It was suggested at the "Take Me Back To Barsoom" site that we boycott the first week of "The Avengers," but that went over like a Baby Ruth in a punch bowl. Too many Avengers fans there. I would have to mention that it's not too late to return the favor.

(What? You thought that I would miss a chance to plug "John Carter" in a thread like this? This is ME we're talking about here)

This truly looks like it'll be something way past great movie, all the way to earth shaking, near religious epiphone, and I wouldn't miss it if Miss K offered to ship Spuffy for a a month if I didn't go. For TWO months, now...nah, not even for two months. I might consider it for a year, but I would probably fudge.

um White Avenger no offense but this is for Avengers and anything by Joss Weadon and im pretty sure Joss had nothing to do with John Carter therefore plz dont mention John Carter here.

You're absolutely right, and I actually thought that I had edited out everything except that last paragraph once I re-read it. Apparently I entered "Save" instead of "Delete,". As far as I know, the only connection between "The Avengers" and that other, unmentionable, movie is that they were both produced by the same studio, which is no reason to bring it up here.

By way of atonement, I offer this:

http://screenrant.com/the-avengers-deleted-scene-joss-whedon-johnh-165039/

which actually DOES pertain to "The Avengers" and Joss Whedon.

Just a question

Does anybody know if the movie is gonna be in 3D or if they abolished that idea?
I hope they did. 3D would make the movie far less enjoyable for me.

In my cinema, it's listed as both! 🙂

Cool, I hope they're doing this in Germany too. 2D is also cheaper :)
Apparently, some people had already the chance to see The Avengers and the reviews are so unbelievably good!
The rating at imdb.com is incredible and user reviews say stuff like "Beyond Excellent. Avengers Hits At The Highest Level!" or "The Avengers - Better than The Dark Knight?"

I sure hope those guys don't exaggerate and I hope that all the high ratings aren't just from some comic fanboys who haven't seen it yet but try to push up the ratings, 'cause I'm starting to get excited for the movie. 😀
I'd be really disappointed if it isn't that good after all. Well, we'll just have to wait and see.

(I've also just posted something similar in the Cabin thread. That movie is also doing really well.)

Here's an official review of The Avengers I found:
http://www.bigshinyrobot.com/reviews/archives/39533

I only read the first paragraph, because I was afraid there were spoilers. It says

Avengers is nothing short of amazing, but that's still selling this movie short. It is the perfect summer movie- wall to wall action, huge characters, and tons of fun. I have never heard an audience break into applause so many times in any movie as this. I personally had at least 5 "F@#$ YEAH!!!" moments of sheer joy. I say "at least" because I stopped counting I was having so much fun.

One more!

I love watching all these clips, I'll probably have seen the majority of the film before I've even gone to watch it 🙂

I'm going watching it a few weeks after its come out. I expect its going to be really busy when its first out and I'm not a fan of crowds 🙂

Hihi, that's why I'm trying to avoid these, I hate having seen all the 'big' moments before I see a movie. It's hard but I'm standing my ground on this one 🙂

Ditto, I'll have to work to stay spoiler free I bet but I'm like this too. I can't stand fan crowds (I made the mistake of watching a Twilight movie on the premiere night and if I was scared of these crowds before I certainly am now...😱). I guess when you post that you've seen it then I'll know that it's time for me 😉

Yeah I'm the same, there are way to many clips of this movie out there already, I've watched the trailer in the cinema and thats it!

My kids and I are sooo freaking excited about it! They are having a Marvel Movie Marathon in my city- $20 and $1 concessions for 6 movies, 3 of which are in 3D!!! We won't be going though, I don't think I can sit through that many and the boys will fall asleep at the midnight premiere lol. But we will see the movie opening weekend I hope. It's a very busy weekend for us.

Anyway, I'm sure you all have seen the Dr Pepper cans with Avengers characters. I love Diet Dr. Pepper, so I thought "Cool!". However, certain characters are only on certain types of the pop: Dr Pepper, Diet Dr Pepper, Cherry Dr Pepper, and Diet Cherry Dr Pepper. Not only that, but each box only contains ONE character! So I bought Diet Dr Pepper, thinking that I'd get Black Widow and Hawkeye, and it has all Black Widow. I'm trying to collect the cans for my kiddos, but I am NOT buying 20 cartons of pop LOL!

As a female fan, I'm kind of disappointed in the lack of Black Widow toys (Legos or action figures). I haven't seen one yet, anyone else?

And here's the Soundgarden single, Live to Rise. You can download it free on iTunes. The album comes out May 1st.

This video has been posted on Tumblr of the entire cast plus Joss chatting for Entertainment Weekly. I haven't got round to watching it, but it looks really good.
