Learning German PLEASE HELP!

Im learning german for when I meet a friend in a couple of months. So ive spent all day downloading 99 german audio files. Ive just listened to the 1st lesson and I swear one word meant about 12 different things im really confused and overwhelmed but I really want to learn german for my friend but Im already confused. Does anyone have any tips to learning a language or tips to relax my mind so I can learn.
 
Take it slow. One lesson at a time. Get a dictionary, especially if you're like me and can't memorize stuff that fast. Some stuff you WILL have to memorize, though, like declensions, cases, and conjugations. Nothing to be done for that. But there's tons of people here who can help you--they've been helping me, too. But it's midnightish in Germany right now, so they're probably all asleep!

Thanks for advice. I dont really know english to be honest like grammar etc, didnt really pay attention at school unless we were doing poetry. Really regret it now but im gunna try and stick to the german lessons.
 
Well, if you need help, there's this thread German Lessons where everyone can ask questions and we try to answer. And also, always feel free to ask me 🙂 Though my knowledge of German grammar is also a bit limited (haha, Blondie Bear, you already know that), as I can't really explain, for example what past tense to use. Well, but I always try 😀

And now I'm really curious what the 12-meaning word is. I can't really think of one. And you English speakers shouldn't complain, there are some words in the English language that fill like 4 pages in my dictionary.
