I had the opportunity to watch Legend of the Seeker for the first time earlier this year. It has to be one of the best shows out there. The pilot I hated, back when the show first aired, so I never gave it a chance while it was on the air. But when I watched it full this time, once I got past the first few episodes, the show really hit its stride. It gets so incredibly good. One of its lead characters Kahlan Amnell, she's up there for me with the likes of Quark from DS9, G'Kar from Babylon 5, and characters of that level of epicness. Heh, have any of you guys seen the show? If not you should check it out!

I was shocked by how many great episodes they had once they got past the first third of season one.

I enjoyed Legend of the Seeker quite a lot... it was produced by the same people who made Xena: Warrior Princess, which was one of my all-time favorite shows.

Like Xena, a lot of the episodes consisted of "heroes wander around the countryside until a random peasant with a Kiwi accent comes running up begging for help." The casting was pretty good. Bridget Regan (as Kahlan) has to be one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen. Bruce Spence (as Zed the wizard) was best known as the Gyro Captain in "The Road Warrior" and a similar (but different) character in "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome."

The show improved a lot when they added the character of Cara the Mord-Sith. Tabrett Bethell did a note-perfect job of capturing the character from the books.

I was disappointed when the show got cancelled. I thought it was just hitting its stride.

The show was based on a series of novels by Terry Goodkind, all of which I'd read before the show started. The first few of them are very good, the last few not so much. He devolves into heavy-handed Ayn Rand philosophical preaching (tiresome even if you're into that), obviously pads the books, and his quality of writing sinks to elementary school level. The books differ quite a bit from the TV show in terms of plot, although the characters are basically the same.

The good books are:
Wizard's First Rule
Stone of Tears
Blood of the Fold
Temple of the Winds
Soul of the Fire

In the next few books the preachiness starts to get obvious, though they're still worth reading IMO:
Faith of the Fallen
The Pillars of Creation
Naked Empire

The last three books are pretty bad... super preachy, and obviously padded out from what was originally supposed to be one book:
Chainfire
Phantom
Confessor

I watched the show before reading all of the books and liked it but once I read the books I was pretty disappointed with the show. The Legend of the Seeker actor for Richard was nothing like how Richard was in the Sword of Truth books. At least they made the tv show though, I wish they would try and make a Wheel of time tv series 🙁

I enjoyed the show while I watched it but in all honesty I can't say that I miss it. Love the female characters the most. Or maybe I'm just shallow. 😉

On a different note. Nice to see you again GATEGOD Feels like ages since I last saw you.

October has brought out my love of Buffy. All I can think about is rewatching it. I don't know if I should yet though. I still remember too much stuff. I've been trying to clog my brain with ten zillion episodes from other t.v. shows, not sure if I've forgotten enough yet.

I always try to do that so i can re watch Smallville which i have seen through like 6 times but when ever I start it again everything comes flooding back lol

Crazy stuff, great show though. You like the pre metropolis seasons or the post?

I liked the Lex/Clark aspect of the show. Once they did away with that, I was kinda bummed. But I really latched onto the Ollie character and found me rooting for him/enjoying all of his scenes and episodes. I think Ollie saved the show.

He gave it a nice pick me up. We have already been through 5 seasons of Clark saving the day, it was nice to have someone else to root for as well.

I've been thinking of giving Legend of the Seeker another try.

Have seen all the episodes but I only watched it with half an eye while doing other stuff on the computer.
It's a decent show though and, as others has already said, the female cast is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen with Bridget Regan and Tabrett Bethell.
(Which is a reason as good as any to do a re-watch 😉)

I loved this show. I've just watched the whole of season 2 on the Syfy channel. I loved the characters and the storyline. It was a shame it got cancelled. I wanted to see what happened with Nikki and between Kahlan and Richard. Cara was such a great character that developed believably throughout season 2.

I've not read the books, I dont want to be disappointed in either so I think I'll leave them.

Trust me, no matter how beautiful the Bridget Regan is, she will never live up to how beautiful KAhlan Amnell in the book is in my mind 😛 Oh and Nikki in the books I can just tell is smoking hot. Tabrett Bethell is pretty dead on forhow I imagined Cara to be though.

Reading the books will pretty much ruin the tv show for you in my opinion. I tried re watching the show about a year after finishing the books and a little into season 2 I decided to go back and re read the books instead of watching the show lol. Although I have dropped both of those things to watch Supernatural for the time being.
