Leo Dicaprio Register to Vote Celeb PSA

Leonardo Dicaprio got together with a BUNCH of his A-list celebrity friends (including Michelle Trachtenberg) and made a PSA urging people to register to vote so I thought I'd pass it along for all of you in the US that haven't yet registered, the deadline is just a few days away. Regardless of your political views, you have to vote to have your voice heard... this is a completely non-partisan PSA. Plus its pretty damn funny so even those of you not in the states watch it for sheer entertainment value 🙂

Take it out of context of the coming election it was ok (I loved Courtney Cox - 'I used to have 5 friends') BUT I would bet a dollar a second that the actors in this video, 99% anyway, vote Democrat.

You can tell by some of the snidey little digs in the 'non-partisan(ha)' video.

Well yeah the majority of celebrities are democrat that's widely known, but I do think that as best as they could they made the video about everyone getting out there, registering and voting. So even if repulicans watch this and feel the celebs made snidey digs then it should urge them to register and vote even more to dissuade the celebrities democratic influence over the voting public.

And I mean, seriously, how awesome is Sarah Silverman? :silly:

'The Majority' is not quite true - besides, this is aimed at people who don't really vote SO probably don't have a party affiliation BUT when they do vote (if based on video) they can say 'Ohh, Leo said this so he must vote for that guy - I'ma vote for him too because Leo was a) sexy in [insert film where he was sexy in] b) awesome in [insert film where he was awesome in].

I have NO issue with persuading people to vote, I truly believe it is something everyone should do - even if you don't vote the same way as me - BUT if you DO make a non-partisan PSA, you should keep it that.

Ohh and yeah, I LOVE Silverman - she is HOT too.

Airam agrees: Yeah you're right about uneducated first time voters being influenced by who Leo might vote for, its unfortunate that that would happen, but I can agree with that point.

I mean don't get me wrong, I think on paper this video is a great idea, I think it is wonderful and would like to see something similar employed in alot more countries to get the young people and/or the disenchanted into the polling boothes BUT I think it should follow strict guidelines to keep is non-partisan BECAUSE you don't have the possibility of comments like mine which detract from the importance of voting.

Cause there are plenty of people out there plenty educated on the issues who just, for whatever reason, choose not to vote. And those type of people wouldn't be persuaded to just vote for whomever their favorite celeb is voting for.

In a perfect world, I would like to believe you too, but where I am from, what I do on a day to day basis (assist the Conservative Party of the UK) I see things like this ALL the time.
IF they are Democrats (and that 'IF' is probably not required) they have just spent 8 years under a Republican Gov't that they truly despise.
There is no way they don't have a hidden agenda to remove the Republicans and the sly digs are there.

Now granted I don't know the affiliations of all in that Video, but after spending the amount of time I have with Conservatives, you do pick up an extra sense of who votes Conservative(R) or Labour(D) and most the guys in that video are definitely Backing Obama.

I don't have a clue about the issues, the parties and other such stuff about the American election besides what we get on the news over here, but I thought that video was great.

But, when exactly did Leonardo DiCaprio start talking like David Boreanez? That was creepy.
