I was just wondering if anybody has watched/read this?

I generally don't like the vampire genre as a whole but with the release of the movie the book was half price so I picked it up. I actually really enjoyed it, it is definitely not for the younger reader though.

Anyway I just wondered if anybody had any opinions on it either way.

I've seen the Swedish movie ("Låt den rätte komma in"), and I thought it was really good. I'm not generally a big fan of the vampire genre, but this one is just not like other vampire books/movies.

I bought the book and I really should read it. People tell me it's even creepier and better than the movie so.

I've literally just downloaded 'Let Me In' and I can't wait to watch it. Generally Hollywood remakes of classic horror movies aren't as good but I'll start off with Let me in

I just saw the new one in the theater a couple of weeks ago but I didn't know it was about vampires before I saw it lol. I enjoyed it but its very weird. I like the lovestory.

I stay away from most remakes as a rule, so I haven't seen the recent version of this movie. I'm holding out for the original Swedish version, but have yet to find it on DVD.

(And no, don't tell me to download it. When it comes to movies and music, I'm like Giles when it comes to his books. 😛)

Agreed. Let The Right One In is one of my favorite movies, it's a great love story and it has a unique plot.

And Like Old Master, I don't watch American remakes of foreign movies and I refuse to watch the new one also because I have no interest it.

I have seen both versions. I had seen the Swedish version at stores but didn't rush to get it. I then saw the trailer for Let me in and it looked good so I saw it. I was not disappointed, it was a great movie and I enjoyed the story a lot.
I then saw the original but didn't care for it to much. The actors just didn't get me.

I need to get the book one day.

As someone who has seen them both, you guys really need to watch the remake. The kids in that movie are phenominal and it was so well done and true to what came to before it. I saw it twice in theatres. The two leads are favorites of mine now, very well done. I'm not a fan of vampire movies either, I like Lost Boys and Forsaken but I'm not gaga for bloodsuckers.

Yep it's Swedish. I really recommend reading it, from what I understand neither version is quite true to the book.

I am going to try and watch both movies over the weekend.

Btw, has anyone else noticed that Americans have been remaking a lot of Swedish films lately, including The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (this film is from Sweden, right? Or...).

Two = a lot? Or have I missed something? The girl with the dragon tattoo is definitely swedish though.

Really? Wow I mean I have of course only read the Swedish books so I can't say anything about the translation, but I thought the Swedish books were great. Really political and feminist. Mhm.

I thought the feminism was a little shallow but yeah there were some interesting themes, there was just way too much filler for me. I thought Let The Right One In was brilliant, it was so dark without being too cliche. The lead characters are all so flawed (flawed doesn't really cover it) and yet at times you feel sympathy for all. Excellent writing.
