Let's talk about Tru Calling.

Personally I don't think it works and I have like a list of reasons why, but I want to know what other people think before I write what I think. So good, bad? Why? How could they have made it better?

Let's skip the straight bashing, at least try to argue your case.

I've been thinking about Tru a bit lately, not much, but some. I think it could be a good show, it isn't as good as it could be. The first thing I thought about was that they don't really follow up enough on storylines. Like wathever happened to Meredith and her drugs? And the reporter..? I may be missing things here, but anyway I don't feel that they are so good at handeling many different storylines..

And also the Jack thing. Like I don't know if you're supposed to think he's evil or good, and that isn't necessarily a bad thing, I like the grey areas, but somhow they are really handeling it bad here.

It's not the best piece of writing on the television right now. It has some weak storylines, I"ll admit.

But, it does keep me entertained for an hour. I am surprised normally at how the epps will end up, and I like seeing a member from the Buffy cast still on screen. I tend to just watch it because it's something that I enjoy, but I"m not gung-ho crazy about it. It is better than some of the junk that is available for viewing, though, and I think it gets points there. It's much better than reality tv.

Although the concept is excellent and was a great change from the millions of CSI and Law and Order spin-offs we seem to see all over the place at the moment. It was a concept I think they could only take so far. I mean theres only so many ways she could save someone, and because there were no real ongoing sub-plots it lost it's edge after a while.

But Season2 has deffinatly gotten better with mixing things up alittle but they shouldve tried to find different ways for her to go back and restart a day and have a different reasons instead of having someone always say "Help Me"

I haven't seen that many episodes so I'm no expert, but I wonder have they included any philosophy in it later. I mean the entire thing with saving lives and death. There's lots of questions about whether or not it's a good thing and exactly what death is.

The episodes I've seen all seem to focus way to much on the saving not leaving any room for Tru's real life or feelings. And any show that hasn't got a larger story arch always ends up being a tad bit boring, at least if it's drama or sci-fi, fantasy.

Moreover somethings are so obvious that there's no fun in watching them two times. Like watching the lottery or jeopardy or things like that. You know that they are there for her to relive which in my opinion slows down the tempo.

Personally I really like it. I have the season 1 dvds and I am watching it in order. I think that for a first season it is very good. "Cult" shows tend to take a season or two to really get going (eg. Buffy). I think that nearing the end of the first season the actors really started to get a handle on their characters, Tru's brother Harrison being the best example. I think that if the show continued we would have ended up with a core group of characters who all have unique talents to help Tru.

I actually like the fact that they keep you guessing about Jack, it keeps you coming back to the show to try and get more information. I also really like the inclusion of Davis' as a character since it added alot of depth having him know Tru's background (I'm trying to say it without spoilers).
