Let's Bring on Some Season 1 Love!

Definitely one of my favorite seasons! It's great watching a lighthearted Buffy, the innocence of Xander and Willow learning about the dark world of the supernatural, and vampires before they started to suffer from some serious monster depreciation.
 
I started watching the show from the beginning again recently and went into it thinking Season 1 was just a springboard to the following series. In a way it is yet its also a lot more. The relationship between Willow, Buffy and Xander unfolds really well and Angel's arrival isn't rushed but slowly brought in for effect.

The episodes are all intriquing and immediately you warm to the characters, especially Xander who provides great comedy and links in so well with Buffy and Willow.
 
I like Buffy and Angel first kiss, I like the halloween when everyone forgot who they was, when buffy first came, when buffy tryed out for cheerleadering,, nightmares, I really love the whole season but the ones I named is my fav.

That Halloween episode is Season 2, not Season 1 🙂
 
I love everything about season 1. I mean the stand alone episodes aren't the best but I love them all because they are classic BtVS. I love the style of the characters, I love getting to know them from the beginning & watching their friendships/relationships grow. Some parts are so cheesy, you just have to love them. Season 1 got my hooked so I will always have lots of love for it!!!

There's nothing wrong with a bit of cheese 😀

Season 1 is great - i love the light-hearted side of it, they got the balance just right. So some of the plotlines are rather kooky, but that's what made buffy different, and frankly i love the kookiness 🙂 To be honest there isn't one episode i don't like!

yea I like S1. this is the first i've haerd of S1 hate.

only issue I have is that it's only a half season 😛 and that's common with most new shows. They make shorter than normal seasons and the season finale can ALSO be a series finale IF the show doesn't get picked up for future seasons. (which is why S1's finale is so 'definite' it could have be substituted for a series finale if need be. thank sweet zombie jesus it wasn't! lol).
 
I dont get the hate. It's an essencial piece. And there are some classic episodes... Teacher's Pet, Nightmares, Puppet Show, The Pack, Prophecy Girl.

Yeah, it's chock full o' cheese... but it has everything that makes the show so great. And the introduction of Snyder is one of the greatest things ever.

Yea nightmares is one of my all time fav. eps. Mostly for vamp buffys line |there's alot things scarier than you... And I'm one of them."
 
I'm almost finished watching season 1 again (I'm in the middle of watching Prophecy Girl right now) and I don't hate it but there's a lot of things I don't like. Mostly stupid goofs they make like how could Buffy possibly need Xanders strength to close the door in The Harvest? He wouldn't make much difference. The whole plot to I Robot, You Jane is ridiculous, but I love it. Teachers Pet is just as ridiculous, but I don't love that episode. It's probably my least favourite. I hate the Luke/Darla/Master stuff aswell.

My favourite things about season 1 are probably Willow and Cordelia.

ack, Darla in S1 is so meh, lol. It's a miracle how interesting they managed to make her later on, from those forgettable beginnings!
