Ok, here's the premise. Take a Spuffy situation and have them switch roles, then let's join in the fun and try to come up with what happens next.

We are going to have to do major suspension of disbelief to make this work and keep it fun, try to roll with it.

OK...here's my scenario. In "Gone", it's Spike, not Buffy that is made invisible...

Not near as pretty or hot. Buffy's cute but Spike's hot.
Okay.....

Just finished a hard, particularly nasty night of Slaying Buffy is enjoying a rare moment of privacy. Dawn has gone to the movies and sleep over with a friend, and Willow and Tara are with their late night study group. The house is empty, the phone is off the hook, and there's plenty of time for a long, scalding hot shower. She's just finished with the shampoo and working the conditioner into her hair when she feels cool fingers trailing up her back and across her shoulders, kneading the tight muscles. A ghostly but very familiar voice whispers, "Fancy a back scrub, Slayer?"

How's that for an auspicious beginning?

(Well, if no one else wants to step up...)

"Fancy a back scrub, Slayer?"

Surprised, Buffy spun around in the shower, coming face to wet face with a grinning,,,

"Xander?!!"

Buffy sat up in bed, heart pounding, head feeling like a Chaos demon was inside trying to beat its way out with a ball peen hammer. "God," she moaned, "No more cold anchovies and pineapple pizza before bedtime." But then, coming more awake, the little Slayer realized, it wasn't the nightmare that had awakened her. It was something else. She wasn't alone. There was someone in the house. Someone here, in her room.

"Anybody ever told you that you snore like a lumber jack, luv?" She recognized the voice, of course, but couldn't locate the speaker.

"Spike," Buffy grumbled, looking around, her fingers moving slowly to the stake she kept under her pillow, "where are you, and what the hell are you doing in my bedroom? I told you..."

"Sittin' right here, pet." came the familiar voice as something touched her foot. Something...invisible. "I seem to've gone all transparent for some reason. Thought maybe one o' your little witchey girlfriends might've been messin' around with some strange mojo and screwed something up again."

(Okay, now I've gotten it out of the erotic forbidden zone. Nobody has to write anything nasty. Somebody just come up with a viable reason for Spike to go invisible. Obviously, it wouldn't have happened to him the same way that it did to Buffy)

I'm a reader not a writer but I'm enjoying the story! Keep it going everyone.
I don't have a lot of time right this minute, but I'll throw a few ideas out there for people to review

He could have gotten zapped by the trio accidentally while following Buffy someplace, or won a week of invisibility in a poker game, or lost his visibility in a poker game, or drank a strange brew at Willy's

Maybe Buffy will put him to work as undercover agent to...find out where the trio is based, do something to Dawn's social service file, or keep him as her naughty invisible secret but the gang finds out in his absence that ALL of them miss him and the gig gets called off.

Or maybe Buffy finds out that she doesn't want Spike to turn to pudding because he's more useful when he all hard and muscley and can pound on... bad guys and stuff.

Yeah, bad guys ;)
Buffy wears the amulet and Spike leaves her to go up in flames alone. Somehow I don't think that would have happened. In my Spuffy heart Spike would have stayed with Buffy and gone up in flames with her.

1000% agree
Buffy wears the amulet and Spike leaves her to go up in flames alone. Somehow I don't think that would have happened. In my Spuffy heart Spike would have stayed with Buffy and gone up in flames with her.

More likely, Spike would have slugged Buffy, tossed the amulet into the pit with what was left of the ubervamps, and ran out of the hellmouth with her draped across his shoulder as the cavern collapsed, sealing it forever. On the way out, he would have torn down some heavy drapes for protection (remember, it's broad daylight outside) and got out just in time to see the buss roaring away with the Scoobies and the few surviving Potentials.

Thinking quickly, Spike would have run to a car parked and abandoned conveniently close by with the keys still in the ignition and equipped with heavily shaded windows (Hey, this is MY version of what happened. If you don't like it, make up your own) tossed Buffy in and sped away, taking a different route out of town that that taken by Wood driving the bus. Spike's newly acquired car is a supercharged sports car, so he has no trouble outrunning the collapsing hellmouth. Once safely away, he pulls over in a well shaded area, just as Buffy is regaining consciousness.

"You hit me!" Buffy says, rubbing her bruised and clearly swollen jaw.

Spike nods, "Yeah, well, I was kinda afraid that dyin' the third time might make it permanent, luv. Can't have you doing that. You're the one, remember?" He climbs out of the car, looking back at the cloud of dust just beginning to settle over what was only moments before the closest thing to a home that he had known in over a century. Buffy comes and stands beside him

"No," she says, moving closer, putting her arms around Spike's neck and pulling him down for a significantly long kiss. "You're the one. I think that I've known it ever since that night when I killed that first ubervamp and took you back home. I was just too busy trying to save the world to notice."

"Buffy," Spike begins to protest, bur the Slayer cuts him off with another kiss. This one lasts longer than the first one did.

"There's a whole army of Slayers ready to protect the world now," Buffy says, "I can retire and settle down somewhere quiet. Have a life with someone I love." She kisses him again. "Someone with bleached hair and a long black leather coat.

"They must think that we never made it out before the Hellmouth collapsed." Buffy said. "Let's not tell them any different. Not right away, anyhow. Let's just go someplace where we can be alone, no monsters, no Watchers, and no Pot... new Slayers, "she corrected herself, "to have to babysit. Someplace where we can..." she whispered in Spike's ear, grinning wickedly. "I'll bet we can even find some handcuffs somewhere, just to make things interesting."

Grinning, Spike says, "I know a place that would be perfect. A bit of a drive from here, but well worth the trip. Ever been to New Mexico, pet?" as they are climbing back into the car."

"New Mexico?" Buffy asks. "No. What's in...?"

"Little place called Carlsbad Caverns, luv. The unexplored parts. Unexplored by humans, at least. Miles and miles of tunnels and chambers, underground waterfalls and lakes, phosphorescent minerals in the cave walls so that it's almost as bright as day in some spots..." The car roars off down the road. headed east.

And they lived happily ever after...^^ <3

I loved it. Grinning the whole time.
The sequel could have Buffy and Spike finding a passageway in the caverns that leads to Pellucidar ( from Edgar Rice Burroughs' "At The Earth's Core") All kinds of potential adventures there, and Spike could even get a sun tan.
as long as it ends with them assuming the names Joan and Randy and living happily ever after I'm content. 🙂

HELL YEAH ❤

In Pellucidar, time literally stands still. It's always noon, and no one seems to age. All Buffy and Spike have to do is avoid the dinosaurs and saber tooth tigers, and they can actually live happily ever after.
