Graduation Day (Part I) "“ Alternate Scene
Instead of Giles finding out about Faith the way he did, this is the way Giles finds out about Buffy's plot to kill Faith and his response.
Buffy sifted through the weapons, looking for extra supplies. She had a tear in her eye, scared for what was to come. She began to turn around as Giles came running into the cage. Quickly, he said, "Where are you going, Buffy!?"
Buffy didn't know exactly what to say. "Giles"¦Angel is dying." Giles nodded, knowing this. "The only cure is slayer's blood." Giles couldn't believe what Buffy was saying. He immediately thought of Buffy and giving herself up to Angel. "I'm going to feed Faith to Angel." Giles, surprised, finally understood where Buffy was going. She was going to kill Faith.
Giles slowly, said, "You are going"¦to kill Faith. For Angel." Buffy saw the disappointment in Giles' face.
"I have to, Giles! If I don't, Angel will die!" Giles obviously doesn't understand what Buffy is saying, and isn't buying what she is saying. "Giles, who deserves to live? Faith or Angel?!"
Giles, outraged, shouts, "Are you comparing their lives, Buffy!? Are you going to make a bloody Pro-Con list!? This isn't your typical high school drama we're talking about! This is one girl's life!"
Buffy, laughing in anger and disbelief, says "You think I don't know that, Giles? Of course I know that! This isn't easy for me, but the person I love is dying right now! Dying right in front of me, and I refuse to just sit and watch." Giles shakes his head. "What if it was Jenny?"
Giles is shocked that Buffy would even bring this up. "If it was Jenny"¦and you had the chance to save her"¦would you do it?"
Giles shakes his head once more, "That isn't fair, Buffy!"
"Nothing is fair! This world isn't fair, but I have to make it right, I have to save Angel! You would do the same thing with Jenny! You would've done anything to save her. You even tried to kill the person that murdered Jenny!"
"That was different! Angelus killed Jenny; Angelus is a monster! He is not human, and he is the same person you're trying to save right now."
"You know he's not Angelus. He's back to normal, but now you are making up a bunch of crap because you can't deal with Jenny."
Giles has gotten incredibly angry, "How dare you bring up Jenny!"
"I'm just trying to show you why I have to do this."
"But you don't have to do this! You shouldn't do this! These aren't the rules, Buffy! I thought you followed a code. Being the slayer doesn't give you the right to kill. Isn't that what you said to Faith? Isn't that the right thing to do!? You act as if you are the ruler of everything around you, Buffy, but are you and Faith really that different? Sure, she went down the wrong path, but that doesn't give you the right to kill her, Buffy!"
"She killed a man, Giles. I watched her murder that man. And she would've killed Xander, too, but Angel was there to stop her! If one person, Faith or Angel, has to die, then let it be Faith!"
Giles, shocked, looks straight into Buffy's eyes. "The rules have changed."
"Thhave."
"That's just because you can't deal, Buffy."
"Probably. But that doesn't change what I have to do. I have to kill Faith."
