Was the vampire at the end (that Buffy slayed) Ford? I didn't think it was, but then I saw it's big ears, and I was like... Hmm...
 
Yes it was. Fistly, I think his name was written on the stone (don't count on it though). Then when he raises from the grave, it doesn't look like him, but in the second shot we see his face, you can tell it's him. But to me it looks like him because of the hair.
 
I was confused about that when I first saw the ep some years ago but then I realized, yep it's him. I love what Giles & Buffy say at the end too, such a great ep!!

I didn't notice it was Ford(never really pay much attention TO the vamps. More the dusting of them) , but I am happy he died. 😀 He deserved it

Are Sarah and Jason (who plays Ford) friends in real life? Because they also played in The Grudge together, and they look... friendly with each other. Besides, I think they would make a nice couple. What do you think?
 
As confirmed above, it was definitely Ford. That was one of the many layers to this brilliant episode. A constant theme in Buffy (and Angel as well) is the inherently grey nature of the demon-hunting business, and it is never addressed more eloquently than in this episode. This is metaphor, of course. What we're really talking about is the life-living biz.


Giles: Yes, it's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true, the bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies, and everybody lives happily ever after
Buffy: Liar.
 
Definitely Ford. And yes, the conversation between Giles and Buffy at the end was awesome. But then, aren't almost all conversations between Buffy and Giles either really funny or deeply touching? 🙂
 
Yup, Ford. I realized it the first time i saw the episode, and felt soooo bad. I know he was being selfish and killing a lot of other people in the process, but he was so scared of death. And then, you think that he was just killed and probably not turned and yet spike actually went through with the promise, so Ford got his wish, as warped a wish as it was... and then Buffy has to kill him. It was heart breaking to me.

I agree; seeing her having to stake one of her oldest friends made my heart break a little. :( It was definitely sad.

What a horrible thing to say. I certainly dont think he deserved to die. Sure, he had some issues but he was staring death in the face. He reacted as many would. Some people wouldnt care who they have to sacrifice to live (or die in his case) I am just saying.

But y'know, I don't think it was actually Jason under the makeup - just didn't look like him even w/ the prosthetics...
 
I thought it looked a lot like Jason... But you know, as they've said in the behind-the-scenes goodies on the DVD sets, when a character isn't a recurring character, they use a generic head mold and teeth set for the actor, so maybe the fact that they weren't fitted to Jason specifically made him look "off".

That would explain it... as I wouldn't have recognized him for the life of me under the bumpy face. But I had never doubted it was him, even from first viewing!
 
Hmmm.... got me to thinking. Perhaps this was a way to hurt Buffy by Spike. He had to know something about their friendship. Maybe Spike wanted to inflict some mental torture on her by having her slay one of her friends. Sort of a "you beat me by locking me down here, well, here's my answer to that". Probably not, but one could assume.
 
Okay, the fact that I don't seem to be the only one who was not sure about this first time around amkes me feel better 😀
I actually had to rewatch this scene several times to get it.
But yeah, now I'm also pretty sure it's him.
 
I wonder if anyone knows this little bit of trivia. (I'm still trying to figure it out)

The first time that Ford goes to their vampire club there is a TV and he mimics a vampire movie playing at the moment. The line is.....

So... You play your wits against mine. Me, who commanded armies hundreds of years before you were born. Fools!

From the script I see that the actor is Jack Palance.
From the IMDB it seems that Jack Palance once did an obscure version of Dracula. (who knew??)

Originally I thought this was an episode of Dark Shadows.

Has anyone seen this movie?

I have not seen it...and yes, it was Ford. 🙁
 
Ford was annoying...glad he got dusted but I never noticed it was him. I happen to be watching the episode now so I guess I can watch for it.
