I’ve not played the remaster but I’ve played the original and I sacrificed Chloe mostly because she annoyed me and not out of loyalty to the town 😂

Although crikey that alternative world where you saved her Dad was dark as F!

Playing it for the first time and she moans that Max never called her and I was thinking why Max never asked if she Chloe ever called her then 🤔

OK so I finished Before the Storm. Straight away its not as good as the 1st. Which isn’t to say its bad. As a game I didn't hate it and there are some genuinely great moments within the game. That aside its a bit of a mess too.
First off Voice acting, Rihanna as Chloe aside (she was the best in it and did a decent job) with the Actors strike going on they got people who clearly had no experience and it felt so stilted when delivering lines. It's very obvious with the bonus episode where they got the Actors back and they just knocked it out the park as young Max and Chloe . There's clearly scenes that would've been way more impactful with trained actors doing them than just the randoms they got from the side walk delivering them.
2nd Prequel inconsistencies. Theres more than a few that dont mesh with the original game. Apparently Chloe knows Frank's Dog name. So why would Frank be suspicious about that if you use it in the first game. Mate you literally told the girl standing next to me. Also if Rachel is the daughter of the DA why the hell would no one be looking for her in the first. Prescott and Jefferson would also have to be incredibly dumb by drawing that kind of attention to themselves. Also Frank is a killer now 😳 Then there is David. In the first he's a control freak who literally bullies school girls due to his paranoia. Very different from this where he's just a nice guy trying to connect with his step daughter.
3 The game seems to start off being about Chloe but the back half of the plot is about Rachel and her birth mother and honestly I don't care. I'm interested in Chloe not Rachel and her relationship with Rachel feels rushed anyway. It also doesn't show the otherside that's discovered in game 1 that while Chloe was in love with Rachel, Rachel probably didn't feel the same way and was having affairs. That she saw Chloe just as means to escape and when she saw she got as far as she could with Chloe she went elsewhere.
4 End Credit scene with the phone ringing as Rachel is being murdered. Very dark but misconceived. It didn't need to be in the episode and should've been left out imo. Instead Rachel is once again just reduced to being the victim.

Those issues aside I enjoyed it. Chloe texts to Max that get no response are a great litte understated moment . They also highlight for me an issue that it was her feelings of abandonment by Max rather than constant visions of her father (which got excessive) and helps explain her feelings in the first game.
That D and D scene killed it too. Such a great moment best in the game.
I loved the bonus episode which killed it and had me 😭. Honestly the Voice Acting chemistry between the Max/Chloe characters kills it and its heart breaking the end. Though Max parents could've at least waited till after the Wake before they left.

Anyway those are my thoughts what's yours ?
