Lilah/Wesley vs Buffy/Spike

So, Lilah and Wesley.... was their relationship a more intense version of Buffy and Spike in season's 5-6? Or is it a completely different kettle of fish??

I can see how it could be analysed that way.. Lilah and Spike are both the enemy, Buffy and Wesley both despise them, yet use them for carnal pleasures and to make them 'feel' something...

But I'm not quite sold on the whole comparison/similarity thing completely, so I was wondering what you guys thought on the matter!
 
I think there are similarities at the same as the two couples being entirely different.

I think the main similarity for me was the fact that both relationships changed the people involved, to reach a revelation of themselves. Particularly in Lilah and Spike's case as it seemed to warm them up. I mean I know Spike loved Buffy before Spuffy officially began whereas Lilah fell in love with Wes after they had been comshucking like bunnies, but it's essentially the same thing. Two previously evil characters, warmed and changed-whilst retaining their attitude- changed by the love of someone they formerly saw as an enemy.

In a way you could say Lilah/Wesley are the more adult version of Spike/Buffy. But that's not to say I think they're at all alike. They are imcomparably different but at the same time you can't help acknowledging the similarites of the effects each relationship had. I'm just making no sense here, I realize, but what I'm trying to say is while the couple seems entirely different at face-value, dig a little deeper and I think it is definitely possible to see similarites.

I agree actually... the reason I started this thread, is because I'm reading a book on the psychology of Buffy & Angel, and they say that Wes/Lilah is the adult version, but I think they're somewhat wrong, and you hit the nail on the head :)
I think Wesley/Lilah were less intense than Buffy/Spike. They were both dark relationships, but Wilah was not violent. Plus, I thought both Wesley and Lilah care about each other during their relationship, but Buffy did not care about Spike when they were together. I disliked the violence/Buffy's "eh" feelings toward Spike during their relationship, which is why I don't ship Spuffy, though I love Wilah.
