Lilah/Wesley

Love them.

It breaks my heart though how Lilah would never be the girl for Wes and she knew it and yet went along with it anyway for those few moments of feeling important to him.

But their story was executed well. No pun intended🙄

I am totally into Wes and Lilah. Wes needs to get over his fetish for High School girls and little elfins. Poor Lilah.

Absolutely, 100%. About as much as I ship Spuffy 😀

And for similar reasons, too; Weslah is interesting. From start to end, it's a rollercoaster of emotions and betrayal and trying to change the other person, not realizing they instead are changing until it's already begun. I can't put it into the kind of intelligent words that @Carrie Hopewell can, but at the end of the day there are such layers to this pairing that I probably still haven't peeled the entire onion yet. And I hope I never do.

Agreed Wesley & Lilah had an amazing story! I really enjoyed their ship!
I wish we had gotten to see more of them cause we had just scratched the surface imo but quality over quantity I guess 🙄

Yes! Very interesting! They worked well together & the writers should've capitalized on it & brought Lilah back for S5!

Well, now that I've been put on the spot, I have to describe Weslah is my "intelligent words", LOL. 😉 @Puppet

I think Weslah is the best ship of AtS. It's possibly also the best written ship of the Buffyverse. It's interesting how it started. Lilah tried to bring in Wesley to her side by showing him that he wasn't too good for them. I guess Wesley slept with Lilah because he believed it. At the same time, Wesley slept with Lilah to prove that he had the upper hand ("I wasn't thinking about you when you were here.") and also as a way to punish himself - to embrace the self-loathing he already felt. Lilah just wanted the pleasure of corrupting one of the good guys and embracing the irony of Wes's fall from grace.

With time, their companionship, shared wit, intelligence and cunning, brought them closer. They grew to begrudgingly respect each other and in their little love bubble, forgot about reality - until it came knocking on their door.

The biggest problem was that Lilah cared more than Wes did. I think she fell in love with him. Lilah, the way I see her, is someone how is more amoral than imoral. She is a survivalist and cares mainly about her own pleasure and desires. Wes made her happy so the fact that he was better than her didn't bother her. Lilah isn't exactly a serene person but she is usually at peace with her conscience. Loving Wes and doing her job at W&H weren't contradictory actions at all. She proved that when she fooled Wes causing Lorne to be attacked (and have his brains sucked out).

Wes, on the other hand, held up Fred in a pedestal, and couldn't make peace with his feelings for Lilah and who he was as a person. In Salvage, he tells hallucination! Lilah that she had no feelings for him - which obviously isn't true. For Wes, portraying Lilah as a she-devil and denying his feelings was easier than admitting the truth. As morally grey as Wes got, he still very much had a black and white mentality - typical of Watchers.

As Wes became a bigger part of A.I again, he no longer had anything to prove - his apathy, badassery, whatever - and started to push Lilah away. His period of "rebellion" was over and with Fred being available once more, Lilah and him had to end.

However, I do think that Lilah provided companionship and intelligent conversation in one of the darker periods of his life. His affection for her - maybe love although he wasn't "in love" - was undeniable. They would never have worked out though because he wanted to "save her" and didn't understand that Lilah didn't see the world like he did and didn't require "saving". Regardless, it meant something that he tried 🙁.

For Lilah, Wes was someone she cared about and who made her a more sympathetic person. You can see it in how she helps the A.I team during the Angelus arc and how she helps Angel in Home.

The most beautiful part, to me, about Weslah is how organic and angst free it was. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was angsty, but at the same time there was peace between the two of them for a while. Lilah and Wes didn't lose themselves in their relationship. They knew who they were as individuals and never truly pushed each other to be someone else. That is ultimately why their relationship failed but it's also why it was so perfect to watch.

* End of the completely uncalled for and random analysis of Weslah*

Knew you'd come through :D
Great post @Carrie Hopewell

I always thought Wesley loved Lilah back, but that he could not admit it to himself. He does look awful sad when he picks up the banknote and he gets very angry when ghost!Lilah suggests she loved him.

Weslah show me how little I care about morality. It bothers me a lot more that Wesley refuses to take Lilah seriously than that Lilah is evil. The scene where Lilah dresses up as Fred really makes me angry. Wes could be awful cold.

LOL. Wouldn't want Spuffy to soil the t-shirt!

I'd buy it lol
If people like Weslah more than Spuffy, then that is fine. I love both. However, I fail to see how they are comparable. Nothing of what makes Spuffy good is present in Weslah. It is like saying monster trucks are broccoli soup done right. The soup chef wasn't trying to make something that could drive through deep mud.

I agree! They're both equally amazing ships which deserve love and support & imo neither of their journeys are in the slightest bit comparable.
I will always love Spuffy more. Spuffy has an undeniable chemistry imo but Weslah is still one of my fav ships.
On Angel it is one of the best ships easily!
