Ummmmmmmmmmm Duh Fred!!!

This man loves U with ALL that he is and will CRUSH anyone who dares to harm you. Oh man, I loved how Daddy Cyborg didn't even get to finish the verbal threat.

Definitley one of my favorite eppys of this uneven season thus far. Along with being a great Wesley centered one.

Must eat tons of CROW, when it comes to Wesley Wyndam-Price. He has evolved into one of the BEST characters in all of BUFFYdom.

If Knox hadn't interupted, I think he was about to confess his love for Fred.


Which is something she should already know by now, it's all over the man's face.
 
I like the episode. I was great to see Wesley's daddy issues, and how much he was willing to do for Fred. I kinda hated the writers for making it a cyborg and not the real dad.

I like Wes a lot, and this episode was..what do you say...a nummy treat
 
I think Fred knew he loved her, but I don't think she knew just how much. The fact that he would kill his own father to save her, made just how in love with her he is clear. I knowing that he is willing kill his own flesh and blood without hesitation when they threatened her is an extremely powerful statement. They didn't know it was a robot at the time and even when they do, Wesley still feels like he killed his father.

Anyway, I just want to say a few thoughts I have about Wesley as a character.

Wesley definitely comes into his own on Angel. When he first showed up on Buffy I found him incredibly annoying and was glad he left. When he first showed up on Angel, he was less annoying but I didn't really take him seriously as a "rogue demon hunter" or as a character. Season 3 was when I started to notice a change.

Although, I felt he was an idiot for not telling Angel about the prophecy, his character really started to get dark and he acted like a "rogue demon hunter" was suppose to. Going to Holtz, stealing Connor, turning his back on Angel and the rest after they turned on him, having sex with Lilah, the list goes on of the ways his character stopped being a just a watcher, and started being an actually fighter and a good one at that. Wesley turns out to be a very strong character, not sure I would call him one my all time favorite Buffyverse characters, but he is absolutely one of the best Angel characters.

Agreed. I think he had one of the biggest character arcs, maybe second to Cordelia.

I agree with your posts and I loved klutzy Wes...
This episode is my favorite out of S5. I have loved Wes ever since he first showed up on Buffy, and I was soooooo happy when he arrived on "Angel" and they let his character grow and evolve the way they did. Alexis is an amazing actor, and he did an absolutely amazing job with the character of Wesley. And I think Fred knew, she just wasn't ready to love him back yet... Although she definitely should have chosen Wes over Gunn wayyyy back when.
Anyway, I loved Lineage and was sorry it wasn't his real father. Poor Wes....

I hate how people always bang on the Fred/Gunn relationship.

The excuse that everybody uses for hating the Fred/Gunn relationship is Fred and Gunn didn't have any chemistry, which is complete Bull. Why don't y'all just admit, that y'all don't want to see them together and quit it with the B.S. lack of chemistry excuse.

I thought Fred/Gunn were a good couple and were one my favorite Buffyverse couples (Along with Xander/Cordy, Buffy/Spike, Angel/Cordy, and Willow/Oz) but obviously wasn't meant to last just like most couples in the Buffyverse .

Because everyone might not see it. The same can be said for Cangel. There's a lot of people that think they lack chemistry for being a couple (friends most seem to agree on). Is that also because they just don't want to see it? Gred/Frunn isn't an awful couple. It just isn't one of my favourite ones. Cangel on the other hand is. Two people can see different things. Not everyone sees things the way you do. Feel free to discuss the things you think make a couple good or bad. But just saying other peoples reason are bull aren't really the best way to convince them that they are wrong. Personally I like it when people like characters or couples that aren't that well liked. But if you're planning on changing peoples opinion the method you're using isn't working on me.
 
I am a Fresley guy in general so know that's where I'm coming from when I say... I think Fred/Gunn made a lot of sense. If you think about it, Fred spent 5 years in a hell/Hercules: The Legendary Journeys style dimension where strength and the sword rule the day. Pylea was ruled by religious demagogues, things were settled in battles to the death (Groo/Angel fight) etc. etc. it was a brutal place where strength was all and her big juicy brain was next to useless.

Once Fred gets back she has an infatuation with Angel but is eventually disabused of that due to events and her recognition of Kirumption (spelling?) between he and Cordy. So her eye falls on the next man who's a 'warrior' of good, Gunn. This makes perfect sense to me. Wes is manly and a good fighter and all but Gunn is the quintessential embodiment of the strong protector, and this no doubt appealed greatly to Fred.

She moves towards Wes only after more years removed from Pylea, working as a scientist regularly, and been in more situations where a certain 'ruthless' or 'calculating' approach has been more important quality then brute strength.


To get back to the OT, as you'll see in a few more episodes he doesn't have to do much more.

I wonder, if she hesitated with Wes because she was afraid of creating a really awkward situation between herself, Gunn, and Wesley. To me, it was obvious that Fred wanted to be with Wes and that's the only reason I can think of why she wasn't ready to be with him.
 
wow!Angel episodes never stop surpising me!!!
when i saw Wes shooting his cyborg dad several times before he even finishes the threat against Fred i was so shocked...i couldn't describe what i felt...i paused the video and i repeated the scene!poor Wes vomiting after that,he really proved his love for Fred!My God how much he loves her!it is amazing!i hope they end up together in season 5!In my mind Wes and Fred are totally made for each other!
 
Really good ep.
Spike was hilarious, especially the ending.
Love Wesley! & my heart still breaks for him. He loves Fred so much 🙁
