Little details in 'Buffy'

Someone in the 'Tabula Rasa' thread in Season 6 suggested a thread about the liitle details that can be found in almost every episode of Buffy, so I figured I would start it since in brought to mind one that I always notice when I watch 'Graduation Day Part I'.

After having had sex with Oz for the first time, Willow is looking for Faith's address on the computer and Oz strokes her hair and Willow shudders like she's remembering what happened. A fine little moment that gets the point across that yes, they did.

I used to watch the little details pretty closely amongst the potentials in Season 7, because it became obvious after a while that the writers weren't going to help you out with any open details about their characters.

A lot of fascinating stuff used to happen in the background. For example there was the time they were supposed to be training in the basement. Molly was in the background practising with, I think it was a stake. She tries to do this flip and balance thing, and of course drops it. The scene said Molly was a clutz. When Kennedy makes a comment in the background about how Molly will eat anything, you know she has an appetite. She was tall and gangly, and probably still growing into her body, thus the appetite, and the clumsiness. When Molly points the empty cross-bow at Dawn, and says "Halt who goes there", you know she likes to play. And watch her in the background when Buffy is around. Buffy is totally Molly's idol.

Then there was Vi. When she first appeared she was dressed like a complete dork and so clumsy in her efforts to be one of the group. OK, so when you compare that to the confident kick-ass fighter she'd become in Chosen, something obviously had to have happened to give her confidence. The obvious conclusion would be it was the slayer spell in Chosen, but no... Watch the background in the preceding episodes. Vi was becoming an in charge butt thumper at that point.

Tons more, but you get my point. You don't get to know the potentials unless you watch the little stuff in the background.

Another thing I noticed; in 'The Body' there is a picture (not sure what of, looks like a cartoon cat of some sort) on the top of the bookself in Willow's room. The same picture is seen hanging on the wall of Willow and Tara's room in the Summer's house in season six.

Yeah, another room decoration one is the mask and cowl from Scream 2 hanging over the door to Xander's bedroom in his S-7 apartment. SMG was in Scream 2

Another place I always look for little stuff is between Dawn and Anya. I have a theory that they share a kind of behind the scenes special connection. No, nothing sexual, more like a connection probably coming from shared feelings of being outsiders.

There's the enjoyment Dawn seems to show when she shares Anya's little money dance in I think it's All the Way. There's the way Anya appears to be hurt when she discovers Dawn has been stealing from her. You'd expect her to be angry. You know? Vengence Demon.

It might just be me, but in I think it's Never Leave Me, when Dawn and Anya are waiting for Andrew to wake up in the chair so they can question him, I get the feeling they hang out together behind the scenes, and get into trouble together.

I can't remember the episode, but there's a scene where Anya and Dawn are sitting next to each other on the couch, and they have a blanket spread over both their laps like they've been doing the chums thing, watching television together. All that kind of stuff together gives me a feeling they have a special bond.

Theres also a poster which I think has been with Tara from S4-6 (cant remember if its around in S7). Most of the time you don't see all of it, just the bottom where it says "Blue Blonde" and some other stuff.

Was watching Dirty Girls the other day and in the hospital scene towards the start where Willow basically says to Faith "I'm going to see Buffy" she sounds so insecure and sort of returns back to her early S3 behaviour around Faith. Even though she has come a long way, even frayed a guy, she still returns to that. Found it interesting.
