Oh god. I don't have a clue how I feel. Er. Right. Concentrate.

My immediate gut reaction was "MOVIE". But...then I thought, no. I just don't know. I don't want it ruined. I think it could make a fantastic movie - it's got a tight, self contained plot, just enough characters, and could have some kickass effects.

The problem is, with a purely comic based source material, I just think it would suffer from the old "Book to Movie = Failure" syndrome.

Plus, I'm sure they'd give them all American accents, and Erin is so English. Even if Fray speaks like Faith.

I think Fray could make a very good movie (probably not a TV series), but it would be a slippery slope.

You'd have to dial down the futuristic slang a bit so audiences can undersrtand the dialog without feeling like they're reading "A Clockwork Orange". But you'd still want to retain some of it to give the kids some catchphrases to remember.

A simple straight filming of the graphic novel wouldn't work... the ending is too inconclusive to work for a movie, even if you're planning sequels.

I don't know that Mel and Erin are supposed to be English... Haddyn is the future New York... but the common speech of their time seems to have adopted some English-like patterns and idioms. Cockney, after all, has always been the universal language of Dystopia.

Who would play Mel? Up until "Twilight" came out, I would have said Kristen Stewart. Now, I don't know.

ERIN IS ENGLISH! MY HEAD SAYS SO!!!!!
Definitely a movie. Sci-Fi series like that are very expensive and thus need relatively big audiences. I figure a movie would be more profitable. Which in turn means it's more likely to be picked up by a studio to be produced.

I think I read somewhere that Fray was modelled after Natalie Portman, so it would be great if she played the part.

She was. It says so in the concept art section of the Trade Paperback. She'd have the look, but....could she pull off the character? I don't know...

Oh, I forgot to mention, I think the reason why my mind settled upon a lot of people sounding English is because of the slang. I couldn't get an american accent to say "Rutting" without it just sounding stupid.

Hey, I'm PRO anything new in "da verse" but a Fray series or movie would definitely be an exclusive to Buffy fans which doesn't exactly translate to guaranteed ratings. Maybe a made for TV movie.
