I know exactly what you mean. There was one comm in particular, one of the big ones, where they kept getting at people for not talking and asking people to intorduce themselves and then the mods proceeded to have this raging conversation amongst themselves. That scenario happened on 3 separate occasions, where I re-introduced myself and was ignored, so I just left the comm altogether.

That's just one comm but it kinda embodies how I feel about the whole set up.
 
Yeah... I know what you mean. It's really intimidating to go into a new community and feel ignored, especially if everyone else already feels like such good friends. One reason why, as a newbie, I think this board can sometimes seem kinda overwhelming. 🙂

Very true but I feel given a week or so here you can really make your mark and feel part of it all but LJ? Well I've been there a year and it's just ok

Yeah, I agree with you two. I have an LJ, but I don't know if I'll ever do anything with it. Maybe someday I'll take a stab at some fan fic. I like lurking though, and checking out other people' journals. There is some great stuff on there.

I'm totally a forum girl at heart. This place was the first Buffy-related site I joined online and it has my heart always 🙂

I lurk around BF and *********, but they don't impress me much. I find the people on BF to be pretty defensive and biased, and ********* isn't very well moderated, and I don't much care for the Proboards layout. Other then that, I don't know of any more active Buffy/Angel forums.

I'm actually getting used to LJ now, I've made a few really good Bangely friends and I find if I stick to the strictly Bangel comms and stuff I can avoid hassle. So, I'm much happier with it than I had been.

I have an LJ account which was for an old forum of mine but I never use it. I'm not the biggest fan of it but I do check in every now and then to read people's blogs. I'm more of a wordpress peep, that can get pretty addictive even if its just for blogging.
