I love how well and alive the fandom is, and I'm sure it'll live on for many more years to come. I know when the time comes and I have kids, I'll introduce them to Buffy, and hopefully it'll continue to live on through generations. 😀

I don't feel that amazed by it myself, considering I follow the comics. But it's cool that so many non-comic readers hang on.
I think it's due to forums and communities like this. The shows are amazing, but I don't think tehy nalone would have made me such a big fan. being able to share my love with so many people have really made my love for the show grow. And to discover new things about the shows, simply through having people point out things on the show I missed, or offer different interpretations to my own.

It is amazing and I don't think it'll stop anytime soon, especially if Joss keeps working. Buffy is just one of those iconic heroins that will always have a secured spot on any list that has to do with ass kicking, a strong female lead, vampires etc. I mean, when I think of all the vampire shows and movies today I feel like so much of that has to do with Buffy starting it all! True Blood and The Vampire diaries have both mentioned her! She's the original ass kicking slayer!!!!!
Into each generation an iconic show is born. One show in all the world. A chosen one. It alone will wield the pathos and storytelling to fight the reality shows, police procedurals and mainstream crassness, to stop the spread of their evil and the swell of their number. It is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 🙂
Seriously though it is the 'Star Trek' for this generation; a show that for some reason lives long past its intended lifespan because of the connection its fans have with it. Long may it continue!

To be totally honest I don't know how Buffyverse fandom stand against other fandoms. Sure, in certain polls the shows and characters do well. Especially since they're often up against more current opponents. I just don't know how accurate it would be to go by just some certain polls. Looking at other polls you might get a totally different result.
After joining this board I see the fandom in a lot of places. Before I joined I knew about 5 people that could say anything about it. When you're in it you see how active the fandom is. Otherwise you can be completely clueless.
Internet is a great medium to spread the fandom. How big or active do you think the fandom would be without it? For you that have lived with computers and internet basically all your life it can be difficult to imagine.
I'm happy that the fandom is still alive and one of the reasons I think is that it's deeper than it may first seem which make the appeal stronger. I also think that Joss continuing to do work helps keep the fandom active. Not sure how big of an impact it has but if he'd "disapperad" after making Btvs and Ats it wouldn't be the same.

It is pretty cool. I was pleasantly surprised to find this forum, and was very excited to see not only how active it was, but also how friendly the members were.

Wonderful, certainly, but not unprecedented. There are still very loyal fans and supporters of the original "Star Trek" series, among others. Compared to the Trekkies, Buffy fans are relative newcomers. The real question is, will Buffy have as many fans in 30 years as Jim Kirk and Mr Spock (Shatner and Nimoy, not the new ones) do today?
