Looking for a book...

Do we have any sci-fi fans here? I read a book a while back that I can't remember the name of now, and also can't remember the name of the author....I'm so bad with names! Anyway, it was about a race of humans that had evolved beyond our current state....they had precognitive abilities or something like that.....As a result of this, they were contacted by a coalition of alien forces called the Milieu. The Milieu was observing these humans to determine whether Earth as eligible to join the Milieu, and if it was determined we weren't, Earth would be destroyed. Is any of this ringing a bell with anyone? I know, not the clearest description of the plot, is it? I do remember it was a series of 3 or 4 books, and they must be pretty old, because they're hard to find. Wish I hadn't given away the copies I had, I'll be cruising the secondhand book stores looking for them! I remember the same author also wrote a series of 3 books called the "Rim Worlds" series, and they were pretty good, too.

Ok, next question!

I was reading last year about the Knights Templar, the holy grail, etc. I lent the book I was reading to a friend and have since lost contact with her. I know what book that was tho, so I'm not worried about that, I'm going to get another copy of it. I hadn't finished it when I lent it to her. ANYWAY - my question is, does anyone have any recommendations for books on this subject? Namely, the Rose Cross, Rosslyn, Knights Templar, Illuminati, Holy Grail conspiracies, etc. I'd like to get opposing viewpoints if possible. The book I was reading is called Holy Blood, Holy Grail. Thanks again! This place has become such a wonderful resource for things like this.....
 
The Da Vinci Code...AMAZING......Oh my giddy aunt....that book is one of the most flawed absurd pieces of tosh i have ever read....Dan Brown makes JK Rolwing look like William 'Goshdarned' Shakespeare.....
 
I'm not a big fan of his writing style, and I've read both The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. What I did like was the premise and theories postulated in both books, stuff I had never even contemplated or heard about before reading them. I was filled with a thirst for more knowledge on the subject, so to me.....because the books gave me that reason to go out and seek more knowledge....that's what makes them great in my eyes.
 
I wonder if there will be picket lines and boycotts like there were with "The Last Temptation of Christ". I know the Catholic Church hates it....

I haven't read it, but is it like a Michael Crichton type thriller? It's all gigantic Church conspiracy theories and stuff, right?
 
The Catholic Church doesn't like it because they are depicted in less than a favorable light, a lot of which I tend to agree with. Yes, the story is mostly a thriller...centering on the coverup of not only the existence of the Grail, but what it actually IS as well.

You should also try Bloodline of the holy grail by Laurence Gardner, The Templar revelation by Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince, Secrets of the code by Dan Burstein and anything by Elaine Pagels , she has a lot of books of all kinds of stuff of religious things.

I forgot to mention the Masons in my above list, anything on their history, the current organization, etc. would be appreciated. And Opus Dei, too.....Wow, am I all over the place, or what? LOL!
