I'm not sure what season it was in or who he was talking to.

It basically went that heroes live in a world as it shouldn't be but act as if the world is as it should be.
 
That is a nice site for quote searching but it won't have my quote. The quote I am looking for comes from ATS not BTVS. It's also not at the second site listed in that thread.
 
Here it is. It's from Angel Season 4 - Deep Down
