I've made the jump from independent film-making to writing. I've self-published on Amazon but I'm posting the book for free on webnovel.com to try and find a reader base.

It's an urban fantasy romance series, inspired by old pulp novels, kdramas, anime, and yes even Buffy/Angel.

I have rated it as 18+ as there is some vulgarity and one instance of homophobic language, graphic violence, gore, scenes involving attempted rape. The book is first and foremost a lighthearted fluffy romance, that eventually finds itself in the midst of a fantasy horror story. I have over ten books planned. My ultimate goal is to adapt them to graphic novels and then an animated series.

Thanks to anyone who checks it out.

Is it set in the current or in the past because i confused .

It’s set in the current day. The story moves forward three years in chapter seven.

Thanks . When you said fantasy horror story i thought it was but now i know .

So if the story moves forward three years in chapter seven, how many chapters will be in the first book. Which promotes the next question, how many years will the story move to at the end of the tenth book or are the books of a separate story?

The first book is 25 chapters and roughly 112,000 words. Basically chapters 1-7 are the prologue/background that sets up the second and third act.

It is finished and I’m writing the second now.

All the books in this series will tell Cooper and Danielle’s story. I say 10 but there could be more. I have the story out lined but some “seasons” may have to be split into more than one book.

There won’t be any other time jumps that big. Maybe a few weeks or a month between books in world.

Thanks for asking.

A quick tip that other authors have failed to do (an editor once told me not to allow to many later chapters to get shorter).

If there is to be another time jump regardless how short it will be, make sure you have a good reason for it.

Have you contacted a publisher to find out the size of a books page and how many words will fit on each page, handy for knowing where to begin the first page of each chapter and how the end of the chapter will look. How far down the first page and the size of the first letter.
How it looks to the reader will be all important, especially where sales are concerned.

In an ongoing series you sometimes need to allow time to progress between stories for pacing and flow. Just like how every season of Buffy starts after summer vacation. Otherwise it'll seem like my characters are living nothing but non stop action. Even though it's about the ultimate fight between good and evil I want it to also sometimes be a slice of life vignette.

I use scrivener writing software to format my paperback, hardcover and ebook versions for Amazon. it allows me to streamline formatting scenes and chapters. Sadly the webnovel site doesn't allow that formatting so I had to alter it.
