I think it's a play on words and supposed to be an allusion to actor Lorne Greene (1915-1987), probably best known from the classic TV-Western-series Bonanza or Sci-Fi-classic Battlestar Galactica.

Lorne is called Lorne because he is green 😀

Ok, I finally found out, why Lorne is called Lorne:

His real name is Krevlornswath of the Deathwok Clan. So it should really be Lorn, not Lorne. But who knows about the spelling they have in Pylea 🙄

Yes and the thing about Lorne Green actually explained in an Angel-episode 😀

Forgive me but I really don't care where they got the name, its just that its soo awesome!
But whenever I talk about him the people I talk to are like, "So, Lauren blah blah blah" and I'm like, "His name is Lorne, y'alls, Lor-Ne" they are so annoying.
I still love his name though.

zaaya, I know exactly how you feel! My friend Emilee calls him Lauren... I freak out. He's my fave caharacter, so it annoys me when people can't say his name right. It's ONE syllable people! GET IT RIGHT!
