The break is finally over. We get to find out if Jack, Kate and Sawyer escape The Others.

Lots of Whedonverse connections this season. Drew Goddard is a writer/producer. Daniel Dae Kim is still there. The guy who was Holland Manners is still around I think. Apparently Josh Holloway did a bit part as a vampire in Angel # 1. Nathan Fillion appeared recently as Kate's ex-husband, and he's commented he expects to make return appearances. Bai Ling who played Jheira in the Angel ep She is supposed to be making a 3 ep appearance shortly. Might start tonight.

Cant wait for this. Its about damn time. I read somwhere else that they finally have an end date for it. Dont know what it is though

My interest is at an all time low, to be honest. But hopefully the rest of the season will pick up the pace, get the whole cast in there.

New Lost writer Brian K Vaughan is actually devoting a thread to tonight's ep on his Website. He does occasionally participate in the discussions. Could be fun to pick his brain about his eps, when they air.

Brian K Vauhan is a writer for Lost now? That one slipped by me. That's kind of another Whedon connection there.

Yup, it's cool, all the connections.

...inexplicably, I've been hired as an Executive Story Editor by the fantastic television show LOST. As I'm neither an executive nor an editor, this is really just a fancy Hollywood way of saying that I've joined the writing staff.

I can't talk about much more than that, so I implore you to please stop asking me what the island is, who the Others are, how Matthew Fox smells, etc. Still, I will say that I'm insanely honored to join such an amazing group of writers (some of their new scripts I've been lucky enough to read are destined to become the best episodes of the series), and I'm very grateful to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for having so much faith in me...

Fantastic episode. It was excellent. I was with goldenboy until I saw it...my interest was waning, I wasn't even excited for the episode, but I loved it. I found it very tense and exciting in parts, tight script, EXCELLENT performances, especially from the woman who plays Juliet (her name escapes me). I'm actually looking forward to next week.

I wasnt even remotely impressed. Ok I hate Juliet and thats a big part but I thought it wasnt good enough after making us wait all that time. They should have had more of the original cast in it. 7 episodes in and I think the original cast have been in about 2 episodes. Barely. Its all about Kate Sawyer and Jack, and quite frankly, Im getting a bit bored of their story already. Plus, I hate Jack and KAte.

I was genuinely surprised by the bus thing, even though it's a total cliché at this point (how come you never hear the bus coming?). It worked for me, lol.

I miss the other islanders though. Let's go!

I could be wrong, but a couple of times I thought I felt the presence of Drew Goddard. They seemed to be doing that genre geek shoutout thing Mutant Enemy used to do. The Bus thing was a total rip from the last episode of Wonderfalls, then there was the kid being droogified in the shack a la Clockwork Orange.

Hadn't thought of Clockwork Orange, but it's obvious...

Totally OT, but Smallville seemed to have a Shining reference. A mentally unhinged freak with an axe, chasing Lana outside of a humongous empty home, into the snow...

It's hard to keep track of all the popcult references on Lost.

References yes, but with Lost there's usually a playful insinuation of relevance. I saw those two the other night more as Buffy style shoutouts. Which is a good idea I think. I missed those.

I was not shocked at all by the bus thing, for the simple fact that it was foreshadowed earlier. As soon as Juliet mentioned it, and you see the look on the guy's face, you just know it's going to happen. But it was still quite clever, and I liked it.

And I like Juliet TONS, she's such a great character. And Kate and Jack is no issue for me as far as a romantic thing goes, because Sawyer sort of blows. The most overrated character on the island by far.

And we should be back to the other survivors next week.

[Whedonesque] (SPOILER) Drew Goddard pens tonight's "Lost".

Ain't It Cool gives a preview, and be warned that the spoilers start with the article title itself.

I just watched this episode. I really liked it. Eerie strange yet accessible. I think Desmond might be my new favorite character. And Charlie to die? Tell me it ain't so.

Charlie may die??? FINALLY something worth watching with his character.
This one reminded me of classic Twilight Zone. I like Desmond's girl, Penelope.

Desi got kicked around a lot, dumped on by authority figures back home...just like Locke, Jin, etc...

Best season 3 episode by far. But Charlie? Where would Lost be without his much needed sarcasm? Ok, it would still be on the island(duh) but there would definitely be less sarcasm.

I tell ya though, those writers they don't half know how to completely leave reality behind. Desmond drunk on one bottle of Whisky? C'mon, he's playing a Scot for christs sake!

I was thinking the same thing about the whiskey. Plus he shared it with 2 other people. Now if they had a case...

It ain't so! 😉

Too obvious. You don't set up a character to die and then actually kill him off. Where would the fun in that be? I reckon that there is enough weird twists of fate going on on the Island to assume that Charlie will be okay.

But Desmond is definitely now catching up with Locke as my new favourite character.
