Yes, the woman at the end was the one who wouldn't sell Desmond a ring and told him he couldn't change his destiny.

As for whether Walt needs to go back to the island or not, that remains to be seen. I don't even know if I believe Ben is being honest about them all "needing to go back." It seems like he's up to something besides what he's told Jack and Sayid's insistance that Hurley not trust him seems to support this.

but Hurley felt that they had to go back before Ben even told him anything, as we saw play out in the flash forwards last season. AND Jack got a visit from Locke, who said the same thing, and i dunno, but I'd trust Locke because he really does want the best outcome for everyone and the island.

I thought the thing with the nosebleeds was something to do just with the time travel, and us as humans not being able to physically handle the constant jumps between the past and future. I think Faraday is certain they will all die because of this, if Desmond doesn't do whatever it is he must to help stop them from being stuck on that "broken record" so to speak.

I think it's fascinating that Faraday was present (time travelling, I assume) when the Dharma people first discovered the time-wheel chamber. Does this mean he'll be the one who opens up that chamber (against Dr. Candle's orders) and triggers the mysterious "incident" that's been referred to since season 1?

Ooh! Now there's an idea!
I read on the Lost Forum that because they went back to the past that they could have gone back to the time when Charlotte lived on the island when she was younger, so there are now two Charlottes on the island at the same time which is what caused her to get the nosebleed and everything.

Another theory that I read about Charlotte is that Penny & Desmond are her parents and the fact that Sawyer and Daniel changed Desmond's past means that they potenially stopped Charlotte being conceived, which is causing her to become non-existant?.. I dunno if that makes sense?

I can't remember what they said exactly but I think that is essentially it, sorry I probably haven't explained either of them very well : erm : but I think they're both pretty good theories. 🙂

I watched it... and it was awesome!
I love the new kate, and the new Sun! (but Jack is still boring)
Moreover I like the new connection between Juliet and Sawyer...
About the story, I thought that the time space thing was cool.

How are Penny and Desmond Charlotte's parents? They certainly aren't old enough to be her parents, and Desmond was on the island at the same time as her, right? and they wouldn't know they are related in anyway? or wouldn't there be an issue in that they were both on the island before desmond was even reunited with penny to conceive her? i just don't buy into that one. I think the idea of there being two charlotte's on the island makes sense. i think there's a reason why these specific scientists came back... because they were all on the island before at one point.

Yeah, even taking into account the time jumps and everything, I just don't see Desmond and Penny turning out to be Charlotte's parents. I could see Ms. Hawking (the woman mentioned earlier that was talking to Ben at the end of the episode & tried to talk Desmond out of buying a ring for Penny in an earlier one) turning out to be Charlotte's mother perhaps, just because they threw in the line that Charlotte couldn't remember her mother's name after she got her nosebleed.

A physicist named Ms. Hawking. Nice.

Huh... I thought Charlotte not being able to remember her mother's maiden name was the result of a tumor or some other physical problem... but it could be the result of her past starting to erase itself as the timeline tries to compensate for the anomalies.

there's another theory that she is penny's sister, and widmore is her father.

but i always thought she alluded to her being born on the island?...

i can't wait until tomorrow night!

oh, and who else finds richard alpert really intriguing? we know fairly little about him, but there's the whole connection to Locke from when he was a boy, and he seemed to even be giving Ben orders at one point, seemingly more aware of things going on than even he was... he's so interesting.

If you want to catch up, you can watch every episode on abc.com for free!
Or at least watch episode 00 or what ever it´s called. The summary of last season. They´ve had one for every season haven´t they? It doesn´t come close to show everything for obvious reasons. But if you don´t have the time to check all the old episodes it´s something at least.

I think Richard Alpert was the captain of the Black Rock.

Now there´s a person I want to see much more of. I think he´s my favourite in the whole show. Or maybe it´s Sun.

To tell the truth I wasn´t sure I was gonna keep watching this season. But I´ve seen the first two episodes and I´ll continue. At least now we know there´ll be an ending at some point. If they didn´t have a closing date/episode already decided I´d given up. Now I need to see how it ends.

Well, you definitely got to see more of Richard Alpert tonight. Nice that it explained why Richard was interested in John even in a young age in the "Cabin Fever" episode. Although we still don't know why he never gets older. I'd been assuming it had to do with time jumps but Juliet flat-out stated he was old in this episode. Also, the reveal that Charles Widmore used to be one of the others? Kind of obvious in retrospect, but still an awesome reveal. That and Desmond and Penny named their child after Charlie Pace.

And i think its fairly obvious now that Ms. Hawkings is Daniel's mother. And he meets Ellie on the island, and says she reminds him so much of someone he knew, which could be his mother, her name being Eloise, and you know, he named his rat Eloise that he did the experiments on....

Yeah, I'm definitely agreeing that Ms. Hawkings is Daniel's mother.

I loved the bit with Charles Widmore being on the Island. Guess that the whole thing with Widmore and Ben really *does* go back a long time. 😉 (Not that I ever doubted it)

I don't remember if Charlotte ever alluded to being born on the Island, but if so, hmmm. That could explain the nosebleed, et al. That part at least can be attributed to the time jump, but if so, why is absolutely *no one* else being affected by it? Also, if she was indeed born on the Island, that will prove even more interesting because Ben claims he was born on the Island, which we know is not true.

I found the Latin bit to be fascinating, and rather amusing. However, I'm thinking that it's going to play an important role, as every little thing seems to be important in this. Not sure what it is yet.

Although, on the whole subject of Charlotte... why did Daniel tell Desmond to go find his mother? When Desmond was fading through time, Des had to find a constant (Penny). Why/how would *Daniel's* mother be able to help *Charlotte*?

I can't wait to find out more about Alpert. He's a really, really interesting character. 😀

I think maybe it isn't just to save charlotte in particular, but all of them eventually. seems Ms. hawking's knows a good deal about time travel, has probably been studying it herself, and possibly knows a way to stabilize their time jumps.

And im glad we are seeing more of Alpert. he used to just show up and them disappear for several episodes. He seems so calm and collected regarding, well, everything... it's just eerie in a way.

I think the actor who plays him was involved with another show that is now cancelled, which freed him up to appear more.
If poeple were to actually read the link I posted on the front page, this wouldn't be a speculative comment.

Anyway, I was thinking about what Ben said at the end of the last season about being unable to get back on the Island if you move it.

Well its obvious why that is. Ben had to leave the Island to move it, or the result of, as we saw in the Ben Flashforward episode.

BUT the reason, to me, is because the Island moves SO I don't think its impossible for him to get back.
The reason he says that is because the chances of finding it, due to all the anomolies and such, are low BUT we know that in this case Jack, Kate, Sun et al have to return - so he could join them.

I got sooo upset last night when I saw Claire's mom. I was rather upset with JJ Abrams et al for doing the Claire's Mom Wants the Baby deal. Fortunately, I was shortly thereafter proved wrong. 😉

I was right about it being Ben. 😉 Not sure if I posted that here, but I said as much to Seraphim.

Also, JIN! 😀 😀 That was the best news ever. Though it was funny, we're watching and they made the "Does anyone know French?" comment and I immediately knew that the little circle-raft thing had Danielle in it. 😀 Muchly awesome.

I'm not happy with Sun at all. It'll be interesting to see how things play out next week.

My one thing about Locke right now is... is he gonna move the island too, or just do whatever Ben did without actually moving the island?

Though my idea about the nosebleeds and who it was affecting got shattered when Juliette got one. >_> It was just Charlotte, and then Myles, so my idea was that it was affecting those who had been on the island before. On the other hand, Juliette had been there longer than the Oceanic group, so who knows.

JJ Abrams isn't involved anymore.
I think Locke might die in the next episode, in doing whatever he's trying to do, which is how he's going to "get off the island" to speak to them. I mean we know his death is imminent, so whether next week or not, it's coming. Also, yay Jin! I really was loving his character for a time and it's good to know he's safe... albeit quite confused im sure haha.
