Love can twist you up emotionally

Finding your perfect match

Is the relationships presented on Buffy and Angel any different from the relationships of any one of us.

Who do you relate with. Have had relationships like Buffy. Are you afraid to express your feelings like Angel. Are you forceful and say what want like Spike. Do you think of partners like Faith does.

Who would you fall for, be attracted to. Both Faith and Darla my picks. I like who not afraid to express themselves.

You are contradicting yourself, as usual.
You like Darla because she is unafraid to express herself, YET you keep trying to say that she loved Angelus YET she NEVER expressed that, so EITHER you realise how stupid your argument is, and that she WAS expressing herself truly, thus didn't love Angelus OR she was hidng something, something huge(she wasn't), thus she WAS afraid to express herself(she wasn't), thus meaning you have read her wrong.

You discover by observing

You can discover from what not said. Because Darla is one of my favorites I look for what not conveniently evident. She is very expressive in everything that she does and says. Now I could be wrong with what I see I said that from the very beginning, but with a chance that a gut instinct may later be proved right there is nothing foolish with observing. And Darla and Angel fun to observe.

It is about being open minded. Not being closed off. Just because wasn't written in the scripts that can't be.

Look at it from this perspective. Buffy has said can't be in love with Spike don't want to be. Yes she even said to him that she doesn't. However her actions tell something different.

Just because you wish a senario, does not mean its there. Between here and another board, 5 people, all of whom DO look deeper into the words, feelings and emotions HAVE ALL come to the same conclusion, what you see is PURE fantasy in your own head, no where else. There really is no 'Could be wrong'.
There is nothing foolish in observing, no, the foolishness lies with IGNORING the BLATANT facts, disregarding the OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE and sticking to your preposterous 'theory'.....

It is about being open minded. Not being closed off. Just because wasn't written in the scripts that can't be.
Well maybe you should try and heed what you say. You have decided to see something that is not there and have refused to see the evidence, all because you are closed off to the idea that it wasnt love.
And as for, 'just because it wasn't written'...thats BULLCRAP.....in a TV show where the characters are fully formed and 3 dimensional, with a well documented history, IT DOES HAVE TO BE WRITTEN......especially when the writers have consistently written that there wasn't any love between them, when the actors have completely used other emotions for the role.....love is NEVER an option with these two.

Look at it from this perspective. Buffy has said can't be in love with Spike don't want to be. Yes she even said to him that she doesn't. However her actions tell something different.

This is another bogus perspective ramble isnt it. Buffy and Spike cannot be compared. She didn't love the Spike that she said that to. Bwecause he was a souless Vampire....all the way through season 6, she loathed herself for going with him, there was no feeling of love attached to him, it was feelings for herself, feeling of hate and disgust, because her emotions were cut off..
BUT in season 7, when he had his soul, she had come to terms with her existence again, she could love again.....and wanna know the BIGGEST difference between the two relationships....BOTH Buffy and Spike admitted there feelings because they were capable opf having them. Darla nd Angelus didnt, because they couldn't.

Seriously, your points get more and more preposterous everyday.....and this whole, using other relationships to try and justify another, its wrong. You cannot compare, because no two relationships are the same.

Spike and Anya wanted to hurt the two of them with the additional bonus Buffy perhaps does have love for Spike.

Actually, Anya wanted to hurt Xander . . . at first. But she failed to get anyone to cast a wish against Xander. In the end, both she and Spike simply wanted to numb the pain from being rejected. Which is why they slept with one another. Both Buffy and Xander rather erroneouly believed differently.

i agree with you here
Love is a spell as well

Spike went to the magic shop to find a love spell to get Buffy to accept her love for him. Later she stops denying. Anya wanted Spike to wish something bad to happen to Xander. It was only way she could get vengence on Xander.

As Xander found out if Spike had cast his spell would have had dire consequences. Xander didn't work the way intended because Cordy still loved him. Buffy was only burying how felt. The feelings were still there.

Anya vengence spells weren't working because deep down she didn't want anything to happen to him. Her feelings for him was messing up spells cast on other men. Her buried feelings causing the spells to fail.

.
What BOTH intended to do in that scene and what ACTUALLY happened, are two different things.
Spike arrived at the shop looking for something to take away the pain of what he had done, he wasn't looking for a Love Potion or a Spell. He felt guilt at his attempted rape, he wanted to remove the remorse.
They didn't have sex to get revenge, they didn't know the cameras were watching them, and that Buffy and Xander would be tuned in at that exact time, they did it to find solace in each other.

As Xander found out if Spike had cast his spell would have had dire consequences. Xander didn't work the way intended because Cordy still loved him. Buffy was only burying how felt. The feelings were still there.

First you MUST mean Anya.
At this point Buffy HAD no feelings for Spike like that. She saw the Vampire, because all he had was a chip. She knew that the second he got rid of that BAM, he was back to the Evil guy he was. It wasn't until he achieved his soul, and the pain he was suffereing that Buffy started to feel true emotion for him.

Anya vengence spells weren't working because deep down she didn't want anything to happen to him. Her feelings for him was messing up spells cast on other men. Her buried feelings causing the spells to fail.
Again you could not be more wrong, you could try, but you would fail.
For a start, Anya's vengeance on Xander failed because she couldn't wish it herself, no one else did wish it, hence no retribution magically.
Her 'vengeance' came in a way she truly didn't intend. Spike was not planned, was NOT in her head any way to get revenge, she was lonely, out in the cold, Spike provided her with something for those few minutes.
AND the reason her spells we're not causing the desired effect, it wasn't Xander, it was her Human side. Her Humanity was still a big part of her, she didn't have it in her to cause death and destruction any more.
In Selfless you see she is capable of still causing the same amount of chaos, she just chooses not too, because of her humanity.

What other kinds of debates are there besides angry ones. Seriously.

And the Darla and Angel/us love thing. They did not love eachother. Darla flat out said she didn't love him, as DDLM said. As far as I can see DDLM has backed up his opinion with facts from the show. You are just using some opinion you got from watching the show.

hehehe...it will piss him off that you not only disagree with him, but use me as reference as why you do....lol
i agree with wes and ddlm......i dont think angel and darla really loved each other...i think they respected each others bloodlust at the highest regard but it wasnt love. they didnt hate each other either....everything was just a competition to them though

No one conclusion to make

Lets shift the discussion slightly and talk about emotions in general. Here some factiods to discuss, and there is no one right conclusion to come to for any.

Spike mention to Buffy when he first got his soul all was feeling for all he had done he never thought about before.

When Darla came back human she expresses how never thought about all that had done. Even before was a vampire while dying she never thought about for what put her on death bed. The Master paying her a visit to make his offer just another way for her to ignore her feelings.

We saw that demons could be in love with Angel/Buffy, Elizabeth/James, Spike/Drusilla, Anya/Xander, Spike/Buffy. Saw what happens when realize the relationship won't or can't last, and what occurs to deal with the realization. Death, torture, misery, anger. When Anya gets her vengence back she is a complete failure and all her wishes backfires.

Why fall in love

There is something we can learn from Xander love spell and that cursed letterman jacket.

Wonder if RJ knew or cared that it was the jacket that was making girls do anything for him. It could have altered him as the girls.

Will go to any length to prove and show love for someone like kill selves or others.

Consequences of emotions

Here is another case to discuss concerning how emotions can twist you up.

Wes and Fred get together and he loses her. He than jumps to wrong conclusions and blaming the wrong people. Stabbing Gunn and wanting to believe the spell Angel had arranged to give Connor a better life cost Fred her life.

Was Wes a thorough researcher. Interesting how often he was wrong. Got fooled by the father will kill the son. Was confused over the san sui.

The way his father treated him made him a less than effective watcher. Watching Fred and Gunn together prevented him from seeing the illogics to the father will kill the son passage.

stabbing gunn wasnt totally the wrong thing. it was after all partly gunns fault. so blaming him wasnt coming to the wrong conclusion.

also i dont think he believed the spell cost fred her life. he just believed breaking it would bring her back. which is a valid conclusion to come to if you dont know any better.

i do agree with the rest though.

Because Wes was so emotionally twisted up, forgot that each of them were seduced by what the firm offered them. Gunn didn't want to lose what was given and Angel needed to do something about Connor before killed hundreds. Fred liked having a lab where she could make great discoveries. Wes liked having an expansive library for research.

I was looking at the "cursed jacket" again and was reminded of something else regarding Xander love spell. Xander spell also affected guys. They expressed anger towards him for getting the attention of all the girls.

When you consider how RJ brother turned out after took off the jacket, it affects the wearer. His brother no longer getting attention lost all motivation and ambition. Their father probably lost interest in their mother and left.

Saw how emotions can alter your thinking without realizing it. You don't have to say how feel your actions will speak loudly.

A few of you bring up that because have a demon inside there is no way could feel love or any emotions. Yet recognize Elizabeth and James were in love. Also that Angel and Buffy were in love. Any living being has emotions. May not share this but demons still living beings including vampires to certain extent. A vampire still partially human.

I was looking at the time when Darla sired Angel and saw someone looking at a person from across the room attracted to and feeling attraction. She may not recognize or admit that was love but doesn't rule out was what was.

When Kate first met Angel possible was attracted to and was working up the nerve to make first move.

You say you try to go for whats NOT obvious, but sometimes the one explanation IS the only explanation...it takes a good thinker to see beyond, it takes a GREAT thinker to accept whats true...and to be honest, i dont see you as either.....

No Vampires are not living beings. They're dead = not living.

Demons (for the most part) are without souls and it is my belief that love is a condition of the soul....so that said, I believe that Demons aren't capable of love. I think they're capable of affection to a degree but I wouldn't call it love.

I don't think that Darla and Angelus ever loved each other.

i can see where you are, i just disagree on the vamp/love thing
So Spike never loved Dru? Is that what youre saying? Cos thats just not true. Same for Elizabeth and james.

I personally believe that Spike loved Dru, Spike loved(and distorted it till his soul came back) Buffy and Elizabeth and James were in love.
My problem is the BOATLOAD of proof(not speculation, the shows are littered with commenst to prove this) That Darla and Angel/Angelus never loved each other.

I do think that any being that can show one emotion, can express them all.

So Spike never loved Dru? Is that what youre saying? Cos thats just not true. Same for Elizabeth and james.

I don't know....I have a hard time believing that Spike loved Dru. I mean....I think he thought he loved her. I think he thought he loved Buffy as well but didn't realize truly what love felt like until he got his soul. You can see how his body language, actions, attitude etc. change toward Buffy after he's got his soul.

Some people may disagree with me on this, but....I really don't think that Vampires without souls are capable of truly loving anyone. I can understand the other side of it and can see why people would say that Spike loved Dru, Buffy, etc. but I just don't agree.
