I wonder how some of those came to be. Also, I just tried to kiss my elbow...obviously I couldn't. Guess I won't be marrying Channing Tatum.

Thailand has some interesting wedding superstitions too.
- If you sing while you cook or work in the kitchen then you'll end up with an old husband.
- You aren't suppose to try on your wedding dress before the wedding.
-To ensure a happy and prosperous marriage, the couple should marry at an auspicious time and date. This isn’t taken lightly and astrologers may be consulted to see if the stars are compatible. There are bad numbers 4 and 6 and number that are good 9.... Picking your wedding date is a big deal and you're suppose to visit a monk to get a blessing to go ahead with a date.

(I'm marrying a Thai/Chinesse man in a couple weeks and we didn't consult anyone about our date and we got some eye-rolls and "oh your brave" comments)

Well, that seems risky. What if it doesn't fit?
 
Also, in Sweden for Midsummer:
if you pick seven different flowers and put under your pillow that night, you will dream of the person you'll spend your life with.

Correcting myself: I Googled it, and here sweeping one's feet also means that the person will not marry. But the thing is that I grew up with my mother scaring me to death to not sweep her feet, because it meant that she would die... I still avoid sweeping feet, even dog's paws...

And the groom can't see the bride in her wedding dress, it's bad luck for the marriage.
