Love

If we could for a second remove our experiences, negative or positive, how would you communicate love to that special someone? Saying ''I love you'', what does it really mean and communicate to you?

I don't think you can described love, it's something that you have to live. Love is by far the most amazing feeling in this world.

Hihi, sorry, that was the first thing that came to my mind.

To me love is friendship and genuine trust. It is also butterflies, nerves and desire. 🙂

Never forget the pizza, love is definitely pizza!
Love is something that means absolutely everything to you when you are experiencing and feeling it, and absolutely nothing to you when are not feeling it.

Not entirely sure I agree with the second half of that statement. How many people spend their lives in desperate pursuit of love? Clearly they aren't feeling it because otherwise they wouldn't be pursuing it, but it is obviously a major factor in their lives, hardly means nothing.

What is Love to you?

Love is undoubtedly the greatest mystery in the universe, Philosophers have theorized and argued over its definition, rewards, and consequences as long as the human race is old.

For me, it's always been fairly simple. If I have to ask if it's really love, then it isn't.

I think they are running away from the feeling of emptiness inside from being alone. It means nothing to them literally in that sense. That is why people pursue it, as you say. Because it can only be a source of meaning for you when and while you have it.

It shouldn't be a major factor in your life other than when you have it to my mind. Because that would be living in denial of your current situation. It doesn't even require the object of your love has to be alive, but the feelings of love still need to be alive. When even those feelings are not alive, love can quite easily come to mean nothing to you, as it is a purely subjectively felt thing. I don't think many people face this latter situation for very long if at all in their lives, as they quite wisely move from one relationship situation of love to another as a replacement. Certainly I think this applies to love with a sexual element anyway. Love, like nature, abhors a vacuum.

I was just trying to highlight the paradox of its subjective significance as a force in our lives.

The key point is that subjectivity. My experience is different to yours, the hypothetical person who pursues that feeling has a different experience again. If the feeling exists for them, even only in potentia, then it still means something to them.

Yes, thats right, and I would probably have been better off to give my own personal view, rather than trying to provide some generic view.

To give that view now: Love, for me, is a passion for something you believe in. It could be a person, an idea, an ideal, or even a memory. If you learn to follow your passion in life, then love will follow naturally.

Love is chemicals in the brain.

Love is the most common form of insanity.

Love is humans being touched by the divine.

Love is all the incalculable little things that makes this one huge feeling seem like its coming out of nowhere, beyond reason.

Love is giving somebody the last cookie just because.

All these statements are true. 🙂
