I know there's been a thread like this, but I can't seem to find it so here's a new version.

You've got any lucky charms or strange rituals you always do before an exam or important game or interview or something like that?

Got my first exam (this time around) tomorrow and I have this thing where I (I don't have to, but I feel a whole lot better if I do) buy a new pen or pencil. I've got like a million and one already, but somehow buying a new pen of some kind makes me relax and it's become kind of a ritual I do before exams.

Anyone else got anything to share?

Well, there's the 'sign your honor code agreement' that my school makes us do...but yeah, I have the same ballcap that I wear for exams. I've had it since senior year in high school and I wear it every time. And I know it's dumb, that wearing some dumb US NAVY ballcap isn't going to make my grades any better, but it makes me feel better.

Before I went to Nigeria in 2001, my parents gave me a champagne cork with a £1 coin insertned in it. It's apparently an Irish custom to give good luck to someone leaving. I never go anywhere without it.

I myself don't really have a lucky charm, or ritual... But my hockey team has a thing that we "stole" from Team Canada... In 2002, in Salt Lake City, a Canadian made the ice that was used for the men and women's Olympic hockey games... And in the centre, he put a Loonie (or a $1 coin for those of you who aren't Canadian). WELL, we don't exactly do that, but I take a "loonie" on the ice with me, and freeze it into the ice inside my net, just enough to keep it still, and then take it with me to the other end after each period... It's kinda lame, but hockey rituals weren't always the most sane ideas... Like no shaving during playoffs... That one's fun too 😉

Hockey rituals...I got a million of 'em! Totally defy logic, they do!
I don't think this is as much a ritual then it is a gross disturbing story that you could have lived a whole nother 100 years without hearing, but the night before I have an important test (mostly finals...) I puke my guts out. I don't get sick, but I'll usually just puke... But it's okay, cause usually when it happens I get atleast a B... Lol...

But as for good luck charms, II have two. A scooby-doo necklace that I've had since I was like 9... And a silver pen with dark dark blue almost black ink. I got it on my way to England 2 1/2 years ago!

Wow, my charms must be the lamest of all! So simple and every day!

Speaking of hockey and puking, I played a number of years with a goalie who puked before EVERY game...not practice, just games...weird...
I've found that procrastinating and finding something other than studying to do has always helped me out during test-time! I know that sounds very backwards, but I normally just tend to wing things. I feel I have a much better chance. I heard once about the 'gut instinct' about right answers, (you know, that one that you instantly get a stomch clench with is the right one), and so I've found that studying lessens that gut instinct.

Hard to believe I'm a college grad, huh?

Hey, that's what I do! It's easy and fun, as well as a good study habit! ;)
Hmm..lemmie see..I've the whole lot of this stuff..
1st of all I have certain pencils and rubber that I only use for exams..period
Then there's my lucky elephant-small figure..this year as we were not allowed to have anything but a pen on our desks I had to have him in my bra..Can we all just say OUCH???

Then there's my silver ring-it actually consists of 5 rings-I always wear it on my left index finger and when I've no idea bout answer in ABCD kind of questions toss it over a paper and that's how I pick my answers..lol

I also wear hmm..a piece of black leather on my right wrist..I don't take it off no matter what..lol

Guess those are my major ones..lol

Oh, I forgot about a major one... been a while since I've taken a test. After reading Ana8's post...

If I don't know an answer, I normally will pick D. I say in my brain, D for Dani (my name). If I know that it definitely is not D, then I pick B for my last name. It's a great way to guess!

That's crazy! But good that works for you.
I have this mascot that I take into exams with me. He's a little beany monkey named Riley. (I named him before Riley showed up on Buffy.) He's helped me through every exam I've ever sat.

As Amber said above, hockey rituals are numerous and weird...I always drink from the same water bottle...it's mine. It's hygenic too, but I've been doing that for a lot of years, before hygiene was a factor...not with the same bottle, I get a new one every year. And I do the same moves before every face off I'm on the ice for. Can't really describe them all, but there are several, and they are all done in the correct order. They're only small movements, but all are distinct.

When I was in school, I always took the same clock into the exams...I don't wear a watch, and it would sit on the desk (sometimes I was too far away from the room's clock to see it, especially if we were in the gymnasium). I just started to bring it to every exam.

Usually I don't have any charms or rituals, but recently I was doing some test and interviews for a school I wanted to go to, and it started to go really well, so I got this idea that I had to use the same toilet just before going in to the test/interview and I was also a bit afraid of changing my clothes..

Re:

Just making it to the exam fully clothed and with a #2 pencil was always good luck enough for me....LOL
