We're pretty much on a honor system here, the same as on all forums that I've visited, with no one, as far as I know, actually having to prove the details of their bios, so I was just wondering...

We know that Joss has said on several occasions that he checks out the Buffy, Serenity, and Doll House web sites, so here's my question. If you accidentally found out that Dan K, or Kean, or Joan The Vampire, or any other member here was actually Joss or Sarah, or one of the other cast members, writers, or whatever, associated with the production of any or all of the shows, what would your reaction be? Would you be intimidated by their posts, reluctant to disagree with them in a discussion, angry because of the way that some particular character, relationship, or story line is developing, or would you just continue to treat them the same as you always have and allow them to keep their secret identity secret?

Damnit! You're secretly James Marsters aren't you? That's why you hate Bangel so much when it's soooo perfect!!!!!!! It all makes sense now!
i'd just treat them as i've always treated them...

i've run into this situation before on forums, most notably the Green Lantern Corps Message Board, which is basically the same system as this one... a few of us found out that two of the members were actually Geoff Johns and Ethan Van Skiver (Writer and artist of Green Lantern comics)

To be honest, we didn't perticularly care... they're just guys at the end of it all, talk to them about their stuff and chat normally to them, but thats about it lol

not going to bug them with PM's or harass their writing or anything, just because i have an opinion on something they've written or drawn, doesn't mean it's automatically correct... it's an opinion nothing more, true i'd like to discuss things, but it's not something i automatically expect from them

And here all this time I was thinking that you were James Marsters...

I can understand your confusion, James is after all, the biggest of the Bangels 😉

In all seriousness though, I'm not even gonna pretend to be too cool to not be effected the presence of one of the creative team or actors. What I said on certain topics would, unfortunately, be swayed by their presence in a discussion. I would be self-conscious and perhaps nervous.

One of the many reasons I avoid celebrities at all costs! lol

LOL @ Dan K...he's really ASH!!!....seriously I'd keep thier secret and let them use the false identity cause I understand why you wouldn't want to be known.

No, Miss K, everybody knows that YOU are the biggest of the Bangels. That's why your adoption is going to be such a thrill for me.

(By the way, the folks at "The Spuffy Realm" asked me to tell you that they appreciated those last three stories. They said you had a real flair for hot, steamy Buffy/Spike passion. You really should drop by and read your reviews more often)

I would be deeply embarrassed if I found out that James Marsters was here..Dunno how many time I've mentioned that I keep having dreams about him xD

i'm sure he'd be flattered lol

Don't know how many times I talked about his fantastic naked body in season 6 :3
Has nobody ever noticed that my birthday just 'happens' to be the same as Joss Whedon's? (June 23)

Honestly, at first, I'd be more offended than anything. If you're an active, long time poster, chances are you shared a story or revealed some info about yourself. I'd question whether that was legit or just made up to toy with us, or to sound more "real". That's a breach of trust and I don't care that it's "just" the internet.

And secondly, yes, it would affect how I'd post in a discussion. I'm self-conscious enough as is and if someone involved with the story I'm discussing showed up ... well, uh. I wouldn't exactly change my opinions, but I think I'd post differently or just not post at all.

Dan is actually James Marsters' son! There, his big secret has been revealed, and I shall now be hunted down for that. : ghost :

But seriously, it would be amazing to know a writer or actor that participated to the show I love so much. 🙂 I just don't think it's possible that any would be here now, considering the show ended years ago. I wouldn't reveal their identity, obviously!

Yeah, I would be really embarassed if James came on here and saw my posts, considering how much I gush about Spike.

He'd probobly think I was some crazy fangirl, lol.

I'm very nervous about meeting him. I hope I don't say something stupid.

Joan, are you saying you're NOT a crazy fangirl? lol :)
Of course it would change my opinion. I would try to not let it impact me, but I know it would. And I'm sure it would impact the way a lot of people act towards them. Especially if they had pretended to be someone else.

I didn't even think about this aspect. Yeah, I'm with you on the angry front. Especially if I had shared info with that person thinking they were someone else. Not cool at all.

1. I would get REALLY SUPER excited every time I would see a post from them.
2. I wouldn't change my opinions because of something they said. I wouldn't act differently other than being really super excited.
3. The only one I'd be embarrassed about is James. I love that man to death but I've never met him and how many times have I said on here that if I did meet him and he was in my life, I feel like he'd be a father figure to me? How many times have I said he's the kind of guy I wish I had around growing up? Those are awkward things to say about someone... also I think I've mentioned several times that he's on my "I'd go straight for..." list... as in the top of the list.

That being said, I'd get over it real fast and get back to the "oh my god, I have at least daily interactions with James!!!!!!"

As far as the sharing fake info goes... I've done that. I've joined forums I know people on with fake info and made up a fake background story to share. I'm not doing that on here, but I have done it. I wouldn't be angry... I'd understand that these people felt the need to protect their identity so that their opinions and the things they say wouldn't be treated differently from someone else. And if I found out and the rest of the board didn't, I'd work on the fake back story and names.

Goldilocks agrees: Hahaha and if James saw your "jizzed in my pants" comment xD lmao
HAHAHA yeah. That'd be like "uh... yeah. It's a nice banner. It looks really good... and it's you." But then like I said, I'd get over it real fast and be back to "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!!"

HAHAHA. You covered a lot of my thoughts. Except I wouldn't go straight for him because I already am straight :D. But HE'S MINE. We agreed.
Imagine if Scott Allie, Joss Whedon or Georges Jeanty frequented our season 8 (or 9) board. Geez, I wish they would!

It would all depend on if they were pretending to be someone else or if they just didn't revel their name and association with the show. If they were on here pretending to be John Smith and sharing fake stories I think that would be lame. I'm with Mumrik and Kean, that would be a breach of trust. I just don't think you need to be dishonest and pretend to be something/someone you are not to protect yourself on the internet.

I would be interesting to read their posts though, getting some perspective from people who were involved in creating the show we love.
