Anybody watching? Cause, I certainly am.

And seeing as how the third season is underway, this would be a good place to discuss it. I've met a lot of people who are obsessed, but yet I've also met a lot of people who just don't get the appeal.

I feel like for a period peace about life in the American 60's, it's pretty intense. There's a lot to gain from every episode if you dig for it. The whole show can be taken in a superficial way, where it's just about a bunch of guys in suits smoking and drinking and being rude to women. But the themes themselves take on a whole different meaning and can apply to life today just as easily.

A really good reason to start watching this show, however, is the female characters. The three main women - Betty, Peggy, and Joan - are each incredibly different human beings, but in the context of the show itself, have a lot in common. I would actually love to write some sort of paper on the subject, because I find the show fascinating.

Also, John Hamm is an incredible actor. Need I say more? Vincent Kartheiser is in it as well, although his character alone is subject for it's own thread.
 
I'm 4 minutes into the third episode of season one (just put it on obviously). I've heard good things about the show so I thought I'd give it a try. I'm nowhere near hooked just yet but I might give it a few more episodes. A nice surprise for me was to see Elisabeth Moss. If nothing else that she and Vincent is in the show might convince me to watch a few more episodes than I had done if they hadn't been in it.
 
I got maybe halfway through the first season on DVD, kind of wished I didn't blind-buy it. It's okay I guess, the production values are great, the sets and clothes look amazing, but nothing hooked me about the story. I keep saying I'll come back to it, especially because an ex of mine really likes it and she has pretty good taste... Anyway, I guess I just didn't care about any of the characters. None of them really seem to care about themselves, besides the Elisabeth Moss character. I don't think it's bad, just not as interested in it as I'd have though.

But hey, I might just pop it in and watch some more this weekend, maybe change my mind about it. Who knows.
 
I'd heard amazing things about it, set down and started watching season 1, and I absolutely hated it. I couldn't have cared less for it, I didn't get into it at all and I doing other stuff by episode 2 and and totally tuned out by 3 (I watched it with friends,which is why I didn't turn it off, but eventually we gave up).
